You need to check the gasket on the egr or check for a broken or leaking vacuum line.

Where is the EGR pressuure sensor at. Need to replace it.

Ford Taurus SES 3.0 L 6-cylinder
EGR valve are directly behind the intake manifold.

I listen from Taurus owners that just had the same problem (EGR insufficient and EGR excessive) and they replaced the EGR valve and the 4 oxygen sensors (if you do this use Ford sensors). This didn't fix the problem; then changed the Vacuum Regulator Solenoid and a tube mounted sensor part numbers F63Z-9J459-AA, and 4U7Z-9J460-AA. this fixed my check engine light and code issues, as well as it stopped idling so high that it caused the trans to jump into gear. It sometimes jumped so hard that he thought he had a broken motor mount.

Good luck (remember rated this).

Failed smog test because of fault code po174 : system too lean (bank 2) ford taurus 1998

Leak on the intake, bad EGR valve that's not closing. Perhaps a bad O2 sensor, but probably not. The O2 sensor is what detects a rich/lean condition. But when they fail they usually give their own error codes.

1998 ford taurus SE,raw gas smell, shows EGR valve insufficiency, replaced valve twice, still shows same code

Check the hoses coming from your egr they are prone to cracking and leaking.

HI , my Ford Taurus is 1996 model

As far as compressor clutch slipping, that could indicate that your system needs a freon recharge.
As far as Code 1405 is concerned, the code guide i checked states it is an EGR valve problem having to do with the upstream pressure hose. Check hose for tight connections and there are no kinks in hose and check condition of hose and replace if necessary.

The EGR is one piece in a larger system. Most autozone type places only read the code and match it with a code sheet. This does not troubleshoot the entire system. It is possible the new egr valve you repaired actually is broken. But check the Vaccuum lines and hose around the valve, if broken or loose or even missing, this would cause the same problem. Find a friend or aquaintance with a snap-on style computer to pull up the exact data you need.
