What could cause a loud knocking in my car engine

It could be a rod that hase came loose from the crankshaft or the piston. It could also be caused by overheated cylinders firing on exhaust strokes or firing early on compression strokes.

My husband did a tune up on my car yesterday and now it wont start it will turn over like it wants to start but it wont he said that its miss firing we have bought 3 new coil packs and still will not start...

If your car is miss firing and your husband changed the coil packs, the wires leading from coil packs to sparkplugs must have got crossed. This will change car timing which will result in the car miss firing. He needs to go over wiring and correct problem for car to run right. You can go online to and type in Info about car to get the correct wiring layout.Your problem isnt the new plugs n wires. Its the wiring layout.

While cranking loud backfire than i restart engine again than it cranks than starts up,this happend about 6 times during 3 months. Car did same thing yesterday, but it just cranks won't start 98 olds...

Not sure if you have a 1996 Cadillac Seville or a 1998 Olds Aurora but I would check the Ignition Coil Packs. One or more of them may need to be replaced. Also if you were working on the car and got the wires plugged onto the wrong coils then the firing order sequence would not be correct and this can cause a misfire or backfire conditon.

Ignition wires cannot rest near the primary wire harness of the ignition module, which can cause electrical interference and a no start condition or a misfire condition

On my friends 1997 Cadillac Seville it was easy to replace all 4 coil packs took less than 30 minutes and made the car run much better. Just make sure to get the firing order right. If necessary find a diagram of the correct firing order for you vehicle.

I have pasted a picture below of what an ignition coil pack looks like

someone has most likely oput the plug wires in the wrong firing order and this will definitely cause that problem i dont know the year model for your car or size engine but i would call caddillac dealer and find firing order and make sure plug wires are reconnected properly by a qulaified mechanic

Ignition module engine not firing

The mechanic should check if the battery is ok and full charge. After checking the battery the mechanic should check on the wires from the ignition switch ,the fuses ,ignition assy. , the rotor, coil , the solenoid , the sensor ,the the alternator, the distributor assy. ,the spark plug cable wires , and the spark plug. For these can be the sort of problem that can be the cause of engine not firing . these could be the problem of the car. Because if the engine is not firing then no electric is rotating .or less current or electric is rotating to the car.And its better to do such total checking so that you won't spend to much time repairing the car. But its been fixed for sure, If these parts are dirty then clean it too.

Car not firing

Nope. If the bellhousing is not lined up correctly that will cause it not to fire. As some of the crank sensors sit there.
