Question about 2002 Volkswagen Jetta TDI

Open Question

I'm looking for a fuse diagram for a 2002 VW Jetta GLS. My tail lights are out, but all the other lights work properly (turn signal, hazard, brake light). One of the bulbs was definitely blown and I replaced it. However, both tail lights are still out.

SOURCE: where can i get a transmission diagram for 2000 VW Jetta GLS

Is this an auto or manual trans? But to just simply answer your question the only one I would recommend is a Bently's factory service manual for your model. A hard copy or in disc format available in ebay and other on line VW stores will carry both. The word diagram in terms of mechanical would be the valve body of an automatic trans which always gives a good workout for your brain trying to learn all them passages in the maze are for.

No brake lights

This may sound confusing, so here goes.
Normally I would say check the turn signal switch because for decades the brake light switch power went thru the turn signal switch.
But in your case, its more complicated.
The wiring diagram looks like you have a wire from the brake switch and another from the turn signal that joins inside the right and left rear tail lamp assembly. There are also fuses in the rear fuse box including one for just the brake lights. So its possible that fuse is dead and yet the turn signals would work.
You may have to get a book with the wiring diagrams to trace the circuits.

I have no break lights or turn signals

Turn signal tail lights and BRAKE LIGHTS NOT WORKING

It can be faulty brake light switch causing the problem or its blown brake light bulb. First check and confirm brake light lamp is working and that's not the case.

For turn signal not working it can be faulty turn signal switch or its issue with wiring:----

Rear lights not working on 2002 suzuki grand vitara

In the underdash fuse/relay box, the 15A TAIL fuse feeds power to the coil of headlight relay 2. When the combination switch is set to TAIL, the relay closes and the outer tail lamps light. In the same underdash fuse/relay box, the 20A STOP fuse feeds power to the brake light switch. When the brake pedal is pressed, the inner brake lamps light. The underdash fuse/relay box also contains the 10A TURN BACK fuse which feeds power to the hazard switch and the turn signal relay. Relay output is fed to the combination switch and turn signal power is applied to the selected middle tail light. The fourth fuse in the underdash fuse/relay box is the 15A HAZARD fuse which feeds power to the hazard switch and turn signal relay. When the hazard switch is set, the turn lamps on both sides begin flashing.

Looking for the fuse box for lights on a VW Jetta

all the fuses on an mk3 vw such as yours, are under the dash on the drivers side. they are kind of a pain to get to, but if you look under the steering wheel, above the gas and brake pedals, there is a little door that opens, the door has a diagram showing which fuses are which. usually the fuses dont go though, have you checked the bulbs?

Tail lights and brake lights not working - not fuse - what can it be?

Brake light switch, located on upper brake pedal should be checked, that is most likely your brake light issue, but U say tail lights aren't working, but running lights do, tail lights and running lights I would consider to be the same, so can u clarify that for me? Let me know how the u do w/ brake light switch, and if u have issue w/ tail lights?
