Question about 1998 Ford Taurus

98 Ford Taurus SE. Stalling and lighting problems Here are the problems I have been having with my car for the past 2 years off and on. 1. Occasionally it says my door is not closed when it is, thus leaving the interior lights on. 2. Stalls in all weather degrees, primarily above 70. 3. Must place in neutral when at stop sign or light and idle above 1000 RPMs. 4. When coasting will go below 1000 RPMS (while going 30 or more). 5. When the car does stall I have to typically wait 15 minutes to an hour before the car will start. Once I had to wait 4 hours, but that was when it was above 90 degrees.

The Stalling is your crank senser. You can spray some starting fluid in to the intake so U don't have to wait for it to cool down till U replace it. As for your door ajar it is your door switch its located at the door latch. Try some WD-40 on the latch and hope some gets on the switch :)

It sounds like the fuel pump is going out, and it sounds like the switch in the door is sticking. you can try to spray a contact cleaner, this may help, but I am sure if you bought a new switch it would fix the problem. Hope this helped tim

My 98 Ford taurus se started stalling one hot day after coming back from the beach, frequently when I accelerate the car will not move but jolt into action after a few seconds...there is a slight hissing...

This sounds like a vacuum leak (this would make the car idle high and transmission to shift
roughly). Look for a cracked hose. Usually a short hose with a bend is the culprit.
It took several months to find one on a vehicle I owned as the hose was almost completely
hidden. hope this is helpful.

98 ford taurus wgn se door ajar light wont go out

The switches that activates the door ajar are located on the body frame. For front doors try looking between the hinges, on the frame of the body cavity. Might have a rubber grommet around it. On the back doors, look on the frame of the body cavity near the hinges.
