Question about Chevrolet Impala

1 Answer

Noticed a wet passenger floorboard almost all summer now. Vacuumed up the water, but still wet or has gotten wet again. Tried silicon on seal of sun roof. Felt no wetness there at all. Went through carwash and had no water coming in. This summer has been a hot one. AC has been on most of the time.

More then likely the a/c drain is not draining, it is located on the passenger side underneath the car. You will need to take a piece of wire or pipe cleaner to unclog the drain, it will becoming through the fire wall a tube or a nipple. Hope this helps tim

If you have a heater core leak, your coolant will be low. Another issue could be the drain tube for the A/C. This will be on the engine side, coming out of the fire wall, in front of where the passengers feet would be. Make sure the drain tube is clear of dirt, or bee's nests.

I noticed that my passenger side floorboard is wet, what would be causing it?

there's a few different things that could be causing your floor to be wet, one is your heater/air conditioner unit has a drain tube on it to drain off condensation out of the box (inside the car) that contains the heater core and air conditioning evaporator, it is designed to drain to the outside of the car near the engine area, they often become plugged up with debris which don't allow them to drain though the hose and then begin dripping inside the car on the passenger side, the other possible case is that the windshield has been replaced and not sealed properly and water is entering around the windshield and dripping on the floor.also there is a minor possibility that water is entering around the door seal, although unless there has been damage to the door or door seal is very unlikely. thanks for using fixya

Water leak to floorboard on drivers side. Carpet wet all the time with standing water. My Jeep is a 2007 Wrangler/rubicon

It it happens when it is raining. This seems to be a common problem with Vehicles.

There is a seal on the passenger side Hood Hinge area. If this seal is cracked or broken or missing you will get water in the car every time it rains.
The water runs down the windshield in to the Hing area under the Hood.

You may need to take the hood off to get to the seal. First pour water over the area, if it comes in the car there is your problem.

You can seal it with any water proof silicone sealer .

Water on passenger floorboard.

HI. This will occur if the heater core has ruptured(leaking). This will allow for the transfer of coolant onto the passenger side floor. Replacing the core will solve this issue.

The spare tire well is pooling water, check there. GM knows about it, but won't say it's a factory defect. Sorry, I'm in the same boat you are. See here: http://ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/Bluegorilla/2008-10-09_134337_08-08-057-001a.pdf
