-   I have 1994 Suburban with paint peeling off the hood, driver and passenger doors as well as fenders. Haven't been to the dealer but will check and see what they say. Truck has never been wrecked or had any paint work done on it. All original-   joesgarage14

Check in the rec.autos.misc newsgroup. I recall seeing quite a few posts on this subject.

I don't think there is much to be done here...I *used* to own an '88 S-10, that had the paint peeling problem, and GM did, in my case at least, make a good faith effort to fix it...My truck was re-painted at the dealer for no charge, and didn't peel again...(just got rid of it this year..) You may have just gone beyond whatever 'window' was setup by GM to correct this problem...mine was repainted over 3 years ago, and I got in on the last *week* of the 'window'good luck, but I wouldn't expect miracles...sorry.

Had a 88 GMC van the dealer repainted for me 2 yrs ago. The dealer did drag his feet in admitting GM would repaint due to a defective compound in the dupont paint. Mine peeled off also. The rules were: (as I remember), vehicle less than 6 years old from delivery date, they would only paint affected areas. Roof, hood, not sides. Getting them to finally agree to paint it was like finding a Doctor to testify against another Doctor in a malpractice case.

Yeah, you snuck in 'under the wire' as they say...But the guy who posted the message that got this thread started owned an '89 something or the other...by my count, that's 7 years, so he's out of luck either way you slice it...And while we're on the subject of quality <g date-of-purchase? I'd say that's pretty responsible on GMs' part...I think a class action suit would get laughed out of court at this point..Just my 02 cents, again! <G Dchob < <>...

Do a web search on peeling paint and GM. Someone out there has a web page providing details on the subject. To my knowledege, all automakers have some form of this problem.

I had a bad front differential shift plunger (electrical and has been upgraded) I had a new transfer case installed at aamco transmission and they fixed the transfer case but the front shift was bad and they did not fix that and told me to get a new one and I did and even tested on another vehicle and works fine. When I shift to four wheel drive it does not engage but it stays in two wheel on the front differential. My shift console does not light anymore. They also put a new wire harness on tranny and transfer case. I know it is an electrical problem and is there a good place to get a good wiring diagram so I can trace the wiring. I really don't want to deal with aamco, they are a shotty place in everett WA. Is there a seperate fuse besides the one under the dash? Thank You, Martin Wilkinson
I have a 1990 2500, with same problem. Have replaced actuator, still no light at floor shifter and no 4 wheel drive. Mine did grind when trying to shift into and out of 4 wheel drive but does not now with new actuator. When shifted into 4 wheel it feel like it is in, low gear, some sound, but no power at front wheels.
