Question about 2003 Nissan Sentra

I have a 2003 nissan sentra gxe ( 1.8 L ). A lil over a month ago i went out town on my way back it kept stalling. I would krank it and it would run for a secoind and stall again. Finally It ran rest of the way home. I got back and had it checked on the computer and it said it was the crankshaft possition senser. I replaced it and it ran fine for a week and now its doing it again but worse. It will stall and have to let it sit and wen it cranks it will last 30 secs - 2mins and stall agian. can anybody please help me and give me some possible solutions.

    ok thank you.. i would also like to add that the first time it done it i filled it up with gas and it drove over an hour home. then today it was low in gas and i filled it up. It was after i filled it up with gas before it started stalling. But i let the car sit for an hour, went back to where it was on side of the road and it drove fine all the way home and it acted like nothing was wrong with it at all.

Get the fuel pressure checked.If the fuel pressure is low then cause of the problem is fuel pump and blocked fuel pressure. If there is fuel in the car then check the blockages in the fuel pump if the fuel pump looks proper then check the fuel filter above the fuel pump.
When you crank the car do you see spark coming at the spark plug? If no then its time to check the spark plugs and coil pack. If the spark plugs are not worn out and looks new then its time to check coil pack. The spark plug gets power to spark from coil pack.There are other problems that can make a car stall---in the ignition system, the fuel system or in the drivetrain. If the timing belt breaks, the car will stall. If the computer itself stops working, the car will stall. Neither item will allow a car to start back up until it is repaired.

    This is caused by a valve on the fuel tank. When you put fuel in the tank the air has to displace to allow room for fuel. This valve is where the air goes, it allows the air/fuel vapors into the evaporative emissions system. This is called on board vapor recovery. This way fuel vapors aren't allowed into the atmosphere, the canister stores the vapor remnants from the air and it is burned in the engine.
     
    What is happening is this valve is allowing liquid fuel up into the evaporative emissions system and the vapor canister. A few minutes after you start the engine the purge solenoid comes on and pulls vapors from the system into the intake and burns them. When this liquid fuel is in the lines and canister it causes the engine to run very rich when the purge solenoid comes on, so it will run poorly or die when you are off the throttle.




    Get the fuel pressure checked and confirmed.

The car may not recognized its key. I would try another key or see if there is a code for an unauthorized key.

If the car has a chip key, the ignition may not recognize the key. Try another key or read the trouble code and the chip reader may not be working.

I have the same problem with my 2003 nissan sentra gxe. I don't know about under the hood, but I was told that the gas filter needed to be changed. Something's wrong with the gas intake to the engine. I had it "fixed" but it still does it a little bit everytime.

You will need a new catalytic convertor assembly. Yours is below treshold efficiency in other words its "no good".If you have it replaced, ask the garage/dealer to give you the old one back. Its worth some cash if its full. It doesn't matter thet it failed. They are going after the mesh inside of it and that is worth some $$$$. May not be much , but better than nothing.
