Question about Lexus GS 300

I have a 99 lexus gs300. and the code that came up was p1125...throttla manufunction...so i was told to replace the throttle body and we did and still the problem i have. So i also just bought a throttle position sensor and the problem still here. When i turn my car on the rpm's are high1100 sometime 2000, but when i put in drive i have to press the peddle all the way down for it to move, it has very little power speed. one i road up a road that was steep and the car begin to go slower up the road like it was going to no make it up the hill..i took the car to lexus and they said my throttle body is good and i dont know what else to do, someone can tell me what the problem is please tell me and if you can leave your number so i can contact you while im outside with the car an you can guide on what to do. 4434493480 corey

Sounds like it could be some water in your Carb, i would recommend cleaning it out, Also it could a blocked air filter

I wanted to start a thread specifically about failures within the throttle body concerning the GS300 (1998 in my case)

My symptons were:
VSC, VSC OFF, and ENGINE Lights would come on, followed by my car going into Limp Mode, where only that last 25% (if that) of the throttle would respond (basically have to floor the pedal to even move at all).

During the mornings, or when the engine was COLD, the throttle operated normal...then once the car warmed up, usually at about 10 mins, the problem would start...it happened intermitantly at first...1 or 2 days over the course of a week, then it became more consitent, until last week it became a daily problem.

The first part I tried was the Throttle Position sensor, which is on the front side of the throttle body, and the easiest thing to replace...this didnt help at all. $300 part from Lexus, $80 part from RockAuto.com (exacly same part toyota OEM)

THE PART THAT FIXED THE PROBLEM:

"Idle Valve Motor", which is the larger electrical object next to the TPS on my 98 GS300. Problem is solved.

The Codes I got were P1120 and P1121 - Accelerator Sensor problem. However it wasnt really the Accelerator Sensor, it was indeed to actual electrical Motor that controls the opening of the Butterfly valve inside the Throttle body.

I found the problem by good old trouble shooting, and using an ohm meter to see if the throttle electric motor was getting elev, I found that the elec motor just to the left of the TPS was basically freaking out and shutting down. The Accelerator Pedal Sensor is on the Back-side of the throttle body where the throttle cable connects to, and has a spring on it. It was fine.

GS300's are indeed "drive by wire" concerning the throttle...the cable triggers the Accel Pedal Sensor, which sends a signal to the ECU, the ECU then sends power to the Idel Valve Elec Motor (next to the TPS), which opens and closes the mechanical butterfly valve, then the TPS sensor detects how far the elec motor is actually opening the butterfly valve...its a closed-loop feed-back system, meaning any failure in any sensor will cause the entire systm to fail.

The throttle cable apparently is ONLY there to allow the fail-safe of having that last 10-25% throttle when the electronic system fails...there is a gearbox inside the throtle body which allows the tail end of the throttle to manually engage the butterfly valve...the rest of the time, the butterfly valve is 100% opened and closed via the idle control motor.

Have you tried just disconnecting the battery for a half an hour or so? Your ECU probably just needs to forget what it has learned and relearn it.

Check all of the battery terminals and cables and check the wires on the starter/selonoid, start from the battery and follow the cable out and check all conections , clean and tighten them and if it still does it the starter/selonoid is bad and needs replacement...

Clearing the codes is simple that is done by removing the fuse of the EFI from junction box 2 for 10 seconds. Make sure to remove the jumper wire and switch the key off before clearing the codes.

The code is for a failed throttle control motor or circuit.
You might check to see if the throttle control is plugged in, otherwise you may need a shop manual to test the component.

Lexus P1125 code is on changed the tps but still has the same problem, limp mode.


The P1125 means "Throttle position sensor intermittent", hope it can help you!

Where is the idle control located on 2000 lexus gs300. my car idle is very low almost down to zero when it starts


they are always on the throttle body by the hose that connects to the throttle body push gas pedal look under hood while doing this and you will see the throttle cable moving on throttle body right around there

99 RX300 Engine code keeps coming up lean


Check for vacuum leaks. ie, vacuum lines them selves, the rubber tube that runs from the air filter to the throttle body. If it has a plastic intake manifold, possibly the rubber port seal gaskets between it and the engine. Lean codes are set when the PCM isn't monitoring all the air coming into the engine (vac leak) or low fuel pressure.
