Which car year model etc. if there is a panel covering the fuse box it depending on the model may be embossed on the back of the panel.

Park neutral safety switch could be bad , also the shift interlock safety system .
Shift Interlock System A brake/shifter interlock system consists of the following:
  • ignition switch (11572)
  • brake pedal stoplight switch (13480)
  • brake shift interlock module
  • brake shift interlock solenoid assembly (attached to key interlock assembly)
  • necessary wiring
On floor-shift vehicles, the ignition/shifter interlock cable (3F719):
  • locks the floor shift transaxle range selector lever in the PARK position when the ignition switch is in the LOCK position.
  • requires the floor shift transaxle range selector lever to be in the PARK position to turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
Condition Possible Source Action
  • Shift Interlock System Does Not Release or Lock Properly
  • Circuitry open/shorted.
  • Blown fuse.
  • Damaged stoplight switch.
  • Damaged shift lock actuator.
  • GO to Pinpoint Test A .

PINPOINT TEST A: SHIFT INTERLOCK SYSTEM DOES NOT RELEASE OR LOCK PROPERLY A1 CHECK ELECTRON IGN FUSE
  • Check Fuse 5 (5A) located in fuse junction panel.
Is fuse OK?
Yes No GO to A3 . GO to A2 . A2 CHECK FOR SHORT TO GROUND
  • Turn ignition switch OFF.
  • Remove Fuse 5 (5A).
  • Disconnect shift-lock actuator connector C203 located to the right of steering column.
  • Measure resistance of the Circuit 1003 (GY/Y) between the correct terminal of Fuse 5 (5A) and ground.
Is resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
Yes No REPLACE Fuse 5 (5A). GO to A3 . SERVICE Circuit 1003 (GY/Y) wire between fuse junction panel and shift-lock actuator. A3 CHECK POWER SUPPLY FROM FUSE 5 (5A)
  • Reinstall Fuse 5 (5A).
  • Turn ignition switch to RUN.
  • Measure voltage on Circuit 1003 (GY/Y) wire and ground.
Is voltage greater than 10 volts?
Yes No GO to A4 . SERVICE Circuit 1003 (GY/Y) wire between interior fuse panel and shift-lock actuator. A4 CHECK POWER SUPPLY FROM FUSE 28 (15A)
  • Turn ignition switch OFF.
  • Disconnect connector C2016.
  • Turn ignition switch ON.
  • Measure voltage on Circuit 10 (LG/R) and ground.
Is voltage B+?
Yes No GO to A5 . SERVICE Circuit 10 (LG/R) for open. RESTORE vehicle and RETEST system. A5 CHECK WIRE BETWEEN STOPLIGHT SWITCH AND SHIFT-LOCK ACTUATOR
  • Turn ignition switch OFF.
  • Disconnect shift-lock actuator connector C203.
  • Apply brake pedal.
  • Measure voltage on Circuit 810 (R/LG) wire and ground.
Is voltage greater than 10 volts with brake pedal applied and less than 1 volt with brake pedal released?
Yes No GO to A6 . SERVICE Circuit 810 (R/LG) wire between stoplight switch and shift-lock actuator. A6 CHECK SHIFT-LOCK ACTUATOR GROUND
  • Measure resistance of Circuit 57 (BK) and ground.

My running lights are working just fine no brake lights any suggestions? 1999 Lincoln continental


Brake light switch ? Lighting control module , fuse's ?
The stoplight switch is protected by Fuse 32 (15A). This fuse is hot at all times. With the stoplight switch closed, power is provided to the stoplamps through the lighting control module through Circuits 9 (LG/O) and 5 (O/LB). Ground is provided to the stoplamps through Circuit 57 (BK).
Symptom Chart-Stoplamps
Refer to the Electrical and Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual for connector numbers cited in the pinpoint tests. Use Rotunda 88 Digital Multimeter 105-R0053 or equivalent to perform pinpoint tests.

  • No Communication With Lighting Control Module
  • Circuitry.

  • GO to Pinpoint Test BA .

Are lamps on? Yes No RELEASE switch and make sure that lamps turn off. CHECK Fuse 32 (15A). REPLACE open fuse if open, RESTORE vehicle, RETEST. If fuse is good, GO to BB2 . BB2 TEST STOPLIGHT SWITCH INPUT
  • Connect Rotunda New Generation Star (NGS) Tester 007-00500 or equivalent to data link connector.
  • Enter diagnostic data link.
  • Enter lighting control module.
  • Enter PID/data monitor and record.
  • Select PID: BOO_LCM - Stoplight Switch Status.
  • Hold stoplight switch.
Does data display read ON? Yes No GO to BB5 . GO to BB3 . This is with a factory scan tool , a code reader will not work !
BB3 TEST FOR VOLTAGE AT STOPLIGHT SWITCH
  • Test for voltage at input Circuit 10 (LG/R) to stoplight switch connector C253 .
Is B+ present? Yes No GO to BB4 . SERVICE Circuit 10 (LG/R) feeding stoplight switch. RETEST system. BB4 TEST VOLTAGE OUTPUT AT STOPLIGHT SWITCH
  • Test for voltage at output Circuit 511 (LG) of switch connector C253 .
  • Press stoplight switch.
Is voltage B+ at the switch? Yes No SERVICE Circuit 511 (LG). RETEST system. REPLACE stoplight switch. RETEST system. BB5 TEST POWER TO LIGHTING CONTROL MODULE
  • Disconnect connector C207 from lighting control module.
  • Test for voltage at connector Pin C207 , Circuit 907 (Y/W) and Pin C207 , Circuit 906 (R/O).
Is voltage B+? Yes No GO to BB6 . SERVICE Circuits 906 (R/O) and/or 907 (Y/W). RETEST system. BB6 TEST OUTPUTS
  • Using jumper wires, short Pin C207 , Circuit 907 (Y/W) to Pin C207 , Circuit 9 (LG/O). Using jumper wires, short Pin C207 , Circuit 906 (R/O) to Pin C207 , Circuit 5 (O/LB).
Do stoplamps illuminate? Yes No REPLACE lighting control module. RETEST system. SERVICE Circuits 5 (O/LB) and 9 (LG/O) for open circuit or damaged bulbs. REPLACE open bulbs as necessary. RESTORE vehicle, RETEST. This is Lincoln factory service info !

Check fuse# 42 a 20amp fuse in the fuse block located under the hood on the right side of the engine compartment. If the fuse is ok, check the stoplight switch located under the left side of the
dash on the brake peddle bracket. Hope this is helpful.

Looking for the stoplight fuse in a 2002 ford


Go to this site for a free download of the original owners manual. The stop light fuse info is on page 123. If your fuse is ok, check the stop light switch to see if it is the problem.

Where is the fuse for the tail lights.


the fuse is in the passengers under dash fuse box which is behind the kick pannel ..under the glove box on the door side and you should see a little access door to get at the fuse box...hope this helps
