What the mechanic is telling you makes no sense. Do not let that guy work on the car. Have it towed to a reputable shop.

If not starting U have either a fuel delivery issue or a no spark situation. Open a fuel delivery joint by the engine and turn on the ignition. If fuel squirts out the pump is fine and the hassle is with the spark. Could be bad igniter causing either no spark or a weak one.

SOURCE: Immobiliser ?????? so i have been told

If, when you switch the ignition on, you get a dash light on, the symbol is a car with a key overlaid, you have somehow activated the immobilser You could try disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, this may reset the immobiliser, If this does not work you will have to contact a Hyundai dealer to get the immobiliser unlock code.

SOURCE: 2001 Hyundai Accent cranks, won't start

its the camshaft position sensor . Its located (atleast on my 1.6L) to the right of the front HOT plate the conection runs between the engine and the right side fan. easier to work on if you take off the air intake thats by the left front side of the battery. you will be working between the fan and the motor. only one bolt but is tricky so u need a 1/4 inch nuckle with a 1/4 extention. once located and you have the right tools it will only take 30 minutes to replace....dont forget to take off negative battery cable before you start.

SOURCE: How do I change an alternator belt on a '99 hyundai accent?

Call your local National Guard Armory, Fire Station, State College auto program or High School Auto Shop and ask if they have somebody that would come put it on for you. Ask you pastor who the "auto guy" in the church is, if you don't have a church call the biggest church closest to you and ask the receptionist if they have an "auto guy" that would help you. The local senior center or VFW hall have "auto guys" . If you were within 50 miles of 83501 I'd come do it for you.

Removal & Installation Raise and support the vehicle.

    Remove the engine splash shield.
  1. Rotate the drive belt tensioner clockwise to release the drive belt tension.
  2. Remove the drive belt from the alternator.
  3. Slowly release the drive belt tensioner.
  4. Remove the drive belt from the accessory drive pulleys.
To install:
  1. Install the drive belt to the accessory drive pulley.
  2. Rotate the drive belt tensioner clockwise.
  3. Install the drive belt to the alternator.
  4. Ensure the drive belt is properly aligned and seated into the grooves of the accessory drive pulleys.
  5. Slowly release the drive belt tensioner
  6. Install the engine splash shield.
  7. Lower the vehicle.

It's O.K. to ask for some help.

How to check for lose fuel pressure hyundai accent 2002

A mechanic would use a fuel pressure gauge, you could spray starting fluid or carb cleaner into the throttle body to see if it will start on that.
Also check for spark at the plugs.

Same with my 07 Accent. bought new in 07, noise started last spring 2013 at 63,000 miles, a year later at 97,000 getting louder but still rolling along, high speeds and pulling a trailer some of the time. Cannot believe a bad bearing would last that long.

You dont say how much oil your son put in? How did you know the oil was low to start with? over filling the oil by .5 qt isnt going to hurt anything. Its time for a new car.

2002 Hyundai Accent GL will turn over, but it won't start

For the Accent pls try to check the fuel pressure on the fuel line from fuel pump outlet to injecter rail. The way of doing the test-1.connect the pressure gauge to fuel line.2.Crank the engine till start and while run the engine check the fuel pressure.must be around 3.5bars.Allow the engine run about 3minutes and switch off the ignition.4.After one hour check the fuel pressure on the gauge. If the fuel pressur is too low, that will indicate the problem with fuel pressure regulater.I can not give the accuraye pressure readings for the fuell pressure variation cause i dont have follow the Accent service manuel.I am related to Peugeot vehicles. If u have any feed back,my e mail add-ranjith1478@yahoo.com
