Check to see if you are low on fluid in the master cylinder. Fill it up to max line. The other thing that turns on the brake light is the park brake. If the brake handle is between the seats check to see if your sun glasses or something similar is holding the brake handle slightly up. It doesn't take much to make the light come on.,

Brake light and abs light is on

Red lite comes on at startup to ck. system. If amber lite stays on, ck. brake fluid level and see if emergency brake is partly up. This shows problem with anti lock system if it stays on, not main brake system. If all is ok with this but still stays on Have ABS system checked. Haynes repair manual, 95-2003 Windstar, all models.

there really is no easy answer for this because of many factors that may affect brake component longenvity.

brake friction material type
stop and go traffic
hard stops
freeway driving
road conditions
dusty driving conditions

expect 25K to 50K and beyond

Hard driving can lower the mileage below 25K miles

if it has rubber flexi brake hoses on the back there is a good chance the hose/s are collapsing inside which mean its pushing fliud through when braking but not releasing it

04 Corolla "BRAKE" light on dash--comes on occasionally??

I wouldn't drive it... when your brake light comes on, it means there's a serious fault with your brakes. They may not engage when you brake and there won't be any further warning other than the brake light

I have a 2008 Honda LXP purchased Novemebr 2008. It has 21000 miles on the clock. From and since 15,000 miles I heard a grinding sound when I applied the brakes after the car was stationary for over 10...

from my experience its sounds like ur front rotors may need resurfaceing...if ur doing that...may as well replace the brakes on the front as well...sometimes glazed front brake pads may make a sound but never heard of it as a grind, usually its a squeal...have ur dealer check ur rotors for hot spots in which u would need them replaced if they are overheated..also check the front pads for cracked brake pad material

Front brakes locking up...

I have a couple ideas for you. first make sure you bled out all 4 wheels making sure to get the air out. also check your abs module and see if it has a bleeder screw on it and bleed it. The second thing is after you drive it, does it seem like the brakes don't release after braking? is it ok when it's rolling? you may have a collapsed brake hose from your body to the calipers, allowing pressure through, but not back. This also makes sense after a few miles, when your brakes are just getting warmed up. after it starts locking up, jack it up and see if the wheel will spin. then see if the caliper piston will go back in. if it doesn't want to go in as easily as it should, or not at all, open the bleeder and see if it goes back. if it does, there's your problem, the hoses.
good luck!
