Question about 2001 Hyundai Elantra

Error codes P0105 AND P0440 on at same time. Had

Error codes P0105 AND P0440 on at same time. Had tranny slipping going into 3rd and studdering bad getting onto highway. Replaced MAP sensor, all great ! Codes erased. Not sure if i still had EVAP problem? "control circuit" it says in manual. I checked back left of car for hoses etc. maybe i should take plastic cover off ? Also, have 180,00 km, still have not had timing belt/water pump replaced !? should i get it done? thanx, Bob

it should be located near the radiator, check for clogs find the hot compressor line and trace it to find it :) they can be hidden in many places but its usally locaed near the radiator as thats where all the air flow and exchange happens hope this helps

This is usually an oxygen sensor, replace the O2 sensor located above the catalytic converter before replacing the evaporator purge canister.

If it won't go into Over Drive then you have a transmission problem that needs adjustment or repair. If your saying your Right Hub will not lock into 4 x 4 then there is a problem in the Trans Axle. Either will require a specialty shop for repair unless you have the special tools to disassemble and repair it yourself.

P1442 usually gas cap. P1449 usually vent solenoid. P1441 usually always a faulty FTP sensor. Very problematic to Malibu, Grand Am Cavaliers and Aleros. That would be my first area to check. They are also known for poor wiring connections at the Left rear passthru connector to the fuel tank and vent solenoid, but not necessarily for that code.

My auto transmission slips alot in 1st and 2nd (3rd occasionaly but almost imperceptible) most of the time when just D is selected. If I select L at a light or stop sign and then shift to 2 and then

if the TCM , controls the Tranny solenoids right?
Did you pull the TCM trouble codes yes, (blinking light codes?)
does the OD lamp flash, this means DTC errors stored.

The diagnostic code can be read by the number of blinks of the overdrive OFF indicator light when terminals TE1 and E1 are connected.

the Tranny will not slip, unless the tranny is bad.
the FSM covers this, you check the voltage to the soleniods
say in Low. are all solenoid coils at the proper voltage 12v or 0v?
is yes, then the tranny is toast.
but if you read the FSM, there is a on car set of tests.
1:the stall tests. i bet your s fails that.!!! ever do that, ?
2: then the pump pressure test, if bad, tranny is bad.
ill stop here, there are 200 plus part in the box and yes, 1 o-ring bad
kill the whole house of cards.
the more you slip it the more damage it gets.

the E suffix means elect,shifter, TCM brain.

why not log in to all
and see what tranny you have. and the tests. all simple on cars tests.
stall, etc.

in 1992 the started modifiying this tranny to allow shared axle and A/T

did you mix 4wd with 2wd ATF fluids (if opted)
2wd uses Dextron II or newer
4wd uses type T
im just reading the FSM. now.

in most cases all TCM made will set a DTC anytime it slips
The TCM has a RPM model for all loads.
input RPM over output RPM
if the RPMs are out of range, and it compensates for hills.(load)
then it trips a DTC, and glows the OD (flashes it)
if slippage is minor it may infact not trip, but will soon as you slowly burn up the clutch packs in the tranny.

id put the jumper clip in and drive and see if throws a DTC
wide open throttle up a hill. (max load will make it slip)
just once.

is fluid level ok? (op guide shows how) do not over fill !
never drive a slipping A/t

now many A/T starting in early 90s have the first tranny brains.
called TCMs. trans,control modules)
it also has what is called limphome mode, on failure you lose gears, a gear can be cut, to to stop further slippage and heat damage.
and all TCM have error codes. but how to get them varies by year and car make .
the early TCM has flash codes, today its part of OBD2 port and is now scan codes. (easy)

ill try to look up toy way. (im a lover of all 1996 cars.. and not post 2006.)
toy calls this ETC, electronic trans controls)
6 fuses in total to make this work. but is part of ECU
ahh very progressive, the TCM/ETC is inside the ECU.
fully integrated.
3 soleniod drivers to got Tranny to sequence the soleniods. inside same
id bet any scan tool will read your tranny codes, P07xx codes DTCs are tranny codes, so use a scan tool (any OBD2 tool)

there is a OD line, that runs overdrive and clutch lock up with a relay. are you sure 3rd is missing and not the lockup?
The TCM will in fact tell you, (DTC) bad OD lock,, bad soleniods.
or slippage, best look first. for DTCS stored, pendings or freeze frames showing P07xx codes or others. related.

2001 kia sephia slips out of gear. Trouble codes P1500, P1624, P0740.

Low fluid or too much ATF? (foaming it up and killing bearings)

p07xx is tranny DTC codes. (errors)
TCC lockup failure. (the TCM commanded the lock and
the tail shaft sensor did not rise in RPM
that is the engine RPM does not match tail RPM or 1:1 ratio.
which is LOCK ratio.

1500 is speed sensor , reads wrong,
No Vehicle Speed Signal to TCM.

1624 means.
MIL Request Signal from TCM to ECM.
the means simply the Tcm SAW and error and sent that error up stream to ECM. creating 1500.
remember the ECU never knows what part is bad.
NEVER ! it only knows, the tests failed. (monitors)
the first thing i do is find out which VSS failed.
on some cars there are 2 to 5
the first speed sensor is RPM does the scan tool show correct engine RPM? y/n
if yes,
does the scan-tool show correct MPH? sensor 2.
y/n if not fix that first.
the TCM function (tranny brain must not be lied to, in this order)
engine RPM , MPH.
and last the tranny its self as VSS (rpm) sensors. 1 to3.
my guess, (too lazy to look it up) has 1 sensor on the tranny tail.
if all is good and 1500 means VSS 2 tranny tail is fibbing.
then its one of 3 things.
(all others good)REMEMBER the TCM does comparisons to all speed sensors to shift the car correctly so the front sensor count first. then last the rear.
VSS2 lies. this is bad bad tranny (slips) bad wires to VSS2 or bad VSS2.
most TCM go to limp home when the tranny slips to stop burning up the clutch packs. may skip gears too.

now what does slips out of gear mean. a neutral FLARE?
or down shifts,
if the tranny ever slips. this is bad news.
if it does slip 1500 is only the warning that it did
it say RPMs go out of control and threw 1500 pronto.

Try to think(sic) like a TCM what would you do if the tranny malfs.
answer, throws codes.
and goes to limphome, if necessary, (FSM show these facts)
so does alldata dot com
what i do is try to get tranny to slip. using all gears.
if it slips ,its bad.
The TCM can not run a slipping tranny.
the TC does slip, but the TCM has that all figured out. (modeled)
not locked, and locked it must not.

If the tranny is slipping try some Lucas Tranny additive use a suction gun to take a quart of tranny fluid out then pour in a quart of Lucas it has save many cars for me and my family.

Transmission slips on auto tranny going from 2nd to 3rd

Time for a new tranny. Try a can of anything that says it will stop slipping trannys for your local pep boys!!! It cant hurt

Torqe converter or transmision stumbles, studders between shifts, and continually shifts up&down between 3rd. and overdrive.

My tranny died and they replaced it for free. Something about the 2000 trannys being defective.

There are to many things that can cause this problem, best thing to is go get the ECM scanned for DTC codes at a transmission shop or Auto zone or Parts Source since they scan for free.
The ECM should have DTC code in it's memory on how the transmission is Performing and have the Transmission line tested for Fluid pressure.
Good luck and hope this helps. Oh and also ways check with more then on transmission shop if there tell you that you need a new Transmission,
It could be a simple as the transmission filter falling off causing the lost of transmission fluid pressure. Check the transmission fluid too.
