The best and easiest way which will also get you the right ones at the right length is to buy them (by year and model and engine) from a salvage yard.

85 Peugeot 505 Automatic Standard I need to replace the bolts that mount the starter to the transmission. However I don't have the previous bolts. Anyone know the specs on these bolts? Thanks

Does the starter have a threaded end? Meaning, do the nuts tighten themselves into the starter or does a nut and washer fasten it to the transmission? Regardless...I can assure you the nuts are a metric size....likely a 13mm head.

Starter Bolt Size

you can buy them at autozone, they may even know what size you need. usually starter bolts are the same size and in some cases just the length is different. simply try the one you have in the other hole and if it works then problem solved on the size but the length may still be different.

Starter will not stay tight, chevy 350

It sounds like the bolt holes may be stripped. Try and put the bolts in without the starter use new bolts and try to pull them out by hand. If you can not it is possible they may be only partly stripped and need the threads cleaned up. Make sure you use the proper size tap. If you still have problems you may need to drill out the bad bolt hole or holes one size larger and re-tap the holes one size larger. This is a big job and you will need larger bolts as well. Depending on the room you have to work with you may have to pull the engine to do a good job. good luck.

How to replace a starter on a 1996 mercury grand marquis

remove the positive and neg battery connections at the battery , ( not knowing what size motor your car has, ) fords have either a 2 or 3 bolt starter,, Located under the motor ( if you can't locate it, follow the positive battery cable down, It leads right to it ,, un-bolt the cable connections to it,, and then remove the bolts that hold the starter in place,, reverse this procedure to put the new one back in, you can look at this video to see how,, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYQRd9BQSvw

Would like to know what size the starter bolts are on a 92 olds 98.

are you asking for the socket size to remove the bolts,if so it takes a 9/16"socket.if you are asking to get bolts to replace them then these are a specific size and strength of bolt.if you don`t want to buy new then go to the wrecking yard and get them.i believe they are two different lengths.

no doubt the bolts are all the same. take a bolt back out and take that bolt to a parts store and they will sell you a match. or wait and go to a dealer.

Replace the starter on a 95sn mustang convertable

There are two bolts holding the factory starter/reducer onto the 5.0 block. The bottom bolt should be easily accessible from underneath while up on ramps/stands but the top bolt must be reached by feeding several long extensions through the front of the motor (by the pulleys) onto the top bolt. If you look down the passenger side by the header you will see the top bolt. You will have to take the intake piping off as well.

well you picked one of the easy ones all you have is a couple of mounting bolts (depending on what engine you have) and one battery cable . just pull the bolts out and remove the starter. some times you need a pry bar to break it loose but make sue you have the bolts removed first.
good luck
