Question about 2005 Dodge Ram 1500

1 Answer

I found a puddle of antifreeze on my drive way under my RAM 1500 today and an empty resivour. I tryed to trace the leak but found nothing. So I refilled the resivour, let the truck run in idle and still didn't find a leak, also the resivour is full so it seemes the leak stoped. where else besides a hose could the fluid leak from?

The best way to find a small leak is to top off the radiator and attach a pump that will pressurize the system and "force" the leak to expose itself, if there is one.

2004 ford escape overheating, fans working, antifreeze empty. But no puddles under car. Filled with antifreeze.I let it run for about 10 minutes, then tried to drive it, it immediately begin to overheat.

Very quick overheating can be a sign of a blown head gasket. Do a compression test to see if this is the cause. You can hire the gauge.

How do I find a leak in power steering I can't see it from the top.Within 20 minutes fluid is gone.Cant see any leak but puddle on ground.

Did you already checked on the steering rack?
Maybe you need to check from the bottom vehicle also. The leakage commonly occur at the hose joint and sometimes it occur at oil seal on steering rack.

01 dodge ram 1500 5.2L. Radiator was empty, filled it up and next day was empty too. No noticeable leak coming from under the truck (no puddles). I used anti-freeze and water from hose (well water) front...

it may only leak when driving..when the pressure increases. this leak could be internal as well as in a head gasket. fill it up and let it idle and get up to temp and check for leaks then.(never remove the rad cap from a hot engine)

I lose vacuum on my a/c when climing hills

Under more throttle/acceleration vacuum will drop. Start from the intakes vacuum source and follow the line(s). Should go off to a resivour at some point. Make sure no lines are broken and that the resivour is not split.

2001 Chevy Silverado 1500 Z-71. Coolant loss with no noticeable puddles or wet connections.

First- When was the last time you checked it & it was full?
Second- Is a lot missing (1/2 gallon)?
Third- check the oil dipstick for any antifreeze in there or any white smoke from the exhaust, that would indicate a possible head gasket leak.
Fourth- Do you smell antifreeze inside the truck? Look for a small leak under the glove box in the dashboard for the heater core.
Hope this helps

I left my 97 Ram 1500 idling outside for a bit today, and found a decent size puddle of antifreeze. It looks to be running down, if you're facing the engine, the right side. It looks like it pools at the...

Too many possibilities.
Most common is hoses, like heater hose.
Water pump is common after about 100,000 miles.
Thermostat housing can leak.
Head gasket if you have overheated and abused it.
Freeze plugs if you ran plain water and allowed it to rust.

Rent/borrow a pressure tester and pump up above radiator cap rating. With engine off and system full of water, it should be easy to then spot source of leak.

I found little spots of antifreeze on the ground and i chesked the resivour when it was hot and everything looked fine and then i didnt see the spots again what to worry about?

Maybe the coolant reservoir was overfilled, and when the engine got hot, it just overflowed the excess antifreeze. If this is the case, then nothing to worry about. Make sure that the car doesnt have a tendency to overheat, because in that case, the water pump is starting to go bad, and they have a small relief hole, and leak small amounts of antifreeze. If you find a leak again, try to trace where it comes from, by looking at the position on the floor.

When driving i smell antifreeze on my 2000 dodge ram 1500

Check your level. If it's low, you have a leak. If you smell it inside, it may be a heater core problem. Get it pressure tested if you don't see any leaks. This will find it.
