The starter is right behind,or above depending on the engine size of the front frame work!Around in the center ! From 1-- 10 about a 5 in difficult remove and replace. And about even with the top of the oil pan. Unhook the positive battery cable first ,then the cable and wiring from starter solenoid. there may be a plastic cover hideing the 2 bolts.Remover the cover, then loosen the starter upright
bolts then remove the one short one on the rear bracket,of the starter,to the lower part of the engine block! Check flywheel for worn teeth,or flat spots, and converter bolts for tightness!

Remove and replace starter

Replacing starter is not a difficult job.The vehicle needs to be lifted up on jack stands. The starter needs to be accessed from under the car. --------- You need to remove the air filter housing and intake, and the battery and tray if you want to make it easy on yourself. Remove those first, then remove the top starter bolt before you go under the car.

Accessing the top starter bolt, sometimes takes time. The top bolt comes from the transmission side on top.

Having trouble getting truck to start needs to put jumper cables to start battery still good

You need to take it for a Starter Draw test. This will show how much juice the starter needs to spin. Autozone and Oreillys will test for free.

If the starter tests good, have your battery voltage checked. On Ford products the batteries need to be fully charged which is about 13.2 - 13.4 Volts. Ford products have sensitive Antitheft sytems and when the Battery voltage drops to a predetermined level, the Theft system cuts the starter voltage down to 6- 7 Volts making it difficult to start.

Once you get these tests you will know whats going on. If the starter tests good you may have to connect a Voltmeter to the big cable down at the starter. Then have someone crank the engine and see how much Voltage is at the starter. If you have another battery at 13.2- 13.4 Volts just swap for a test and see what happens.

On a 323is model starter replacement. is this difficult?

Disconnect the mattery negative. Remove dipstick guide tube.Disconnect starter wiring. Romove the top and bottom starter bolts. Bottom bolt removes from under the car. Pull and twist the starter till the solenoid is at the top and remove the starter. Some models have a bracket at the rear of the starter that also needs to be removed before the starter can be removed.

Need a starter

It depends on the location of the starter. Mine is difficult but you have to know a little mechanics in order to do this, if no experience well tough luck. Now, in order to start a problem start, try tapping the starter with a hammer or metal pipe, you might need to get under the car or raise it enough to access the starter, raise it safely!! don't be afraid to hit it hard beucause you can have a stuck piston inside that needs to be freed. CAUTION bad starters can cause damage to the fly wheel!!!!

My starter needs to be replace. I'm more the willing to do the work myself, but I need to know if anyone else as done this before and how difficult is this?

Not a difficult job but you have to crawl around under the car. First thing to do is disconnect the battery. Now you need to get the car up high enough to work under. I like ramps but jack stands are go too. Never work under a car with only a jack holding it up. Chuck the tires and apply the emergency brake as well as putting the car in park, you get the idea. Now look for the starter at the rear of the engine way down low by the fly wheel. Notice that there are wires going to the forward end of the starter you need to remove them remembering where they go for the assembly of the new starter. Look at the rear of the starter where it attaches to the bell housing. Here you will see some large bolts attaching the starter flange to the bell hosing. Remove the lower bolt first and than the top. The starter will fall out in your hands. Just revers the steps for assemble
