Timing belt will not affect spark. If you don't have spark, recommend you focus there first, because timing belt is a big job. Use a test light to see if there is power to the coil with key on. If no power at coil, check ignition fuse and relay. If you have power but no spark coming from the coil, the problem is the coil or the ignition modulator. Any questions, please reply.

My girlfriends 2003 dodge stratus died suddenly. she tried to start it and it cranked over then stopped. good battery. what possible things should i check and start?`

Timing belt is most likely cause of sudden shut down. The Stratus has a noninterference engine so no damage occurs and the belt change is an easy fix.Open the area. Remove the belt tensioner at the 7 o'clock position compress it and put a pin in the small hole to hold it, Line up the timing marks put the new belt on and pull the pin. Some times it;s the bearing on the crank pulley that fails. If you change it be sure to put the flange to the front, thats what keeps the belt from coming off.

03 stratus replaced broke timing belt, crank and cam sensor it cranks has fuel and spark but no start whats up?

If your sure the timing belt is correctly installed, then check compression. you very well may have bent some valves when the timing belt broke. low or no compression will be a sign that this is the case.

2006 dodge stratus will not start. Was driving down highway and it died. I checked fuel pump and it is still working. Engine turns over but it wont fire at all

you may have had a timing belt brake. this usually happens under a load. I've seen this a few times,if you are between 80,000 and 100,000 miles or higher and the timing belt has not been changed. (a way to tell if it is the timing belt is to remove a valve cover and crank the engine if the rockers don't move the crank is not turning the cam/cams and its probably a broken timing belt) it may be that, or it may be an issue with the ignition/spark system if your getting fuel at the engine.i hope this helps

2001 dodge stratus (2.4l single cam) shut off while I was driving it. I'm at my wits' end to find a solution. I've physically inspected and cleaned injectors, changed plugs and wires, changed oil and...

Is the timing belt broken?

Do you have spark?

Do you have fuel pressure?

Start with the basics. If you have fuel pressure and no spark it could be a crank sensor. If you have spark and fuel pressure maybe a crank sensor. If you have spark and no fuel pressure maybe a fuel pump. If you have fuel pressure and no spark you could also have a broken timing belt which will also make the engine sound like it is turning over faster than normal.
