Oil leaks down the frame rail and onto the jack plate. I have looked under the car and there is no definite place that the oil is coming from.

Sorry hate to sound almighty but without having vehicle in front of me and giving it a good steam clean then running it to look for leaks i can only give you the normal places for oil leaks and thats the rear end oil seal, front end oil seal ,or the head gasket on a corner where the oil feed passes through the head gasket to lubricate the valve gear ,on a lot of vehicles its on a corner of the block and they do go fairly often especially citreons and peugeots .Best advice is ask neighbours and friends if they have a mechanic in the family and then ask them to have a quick look ,that way you may get a truthful answer so at least you know what to expect if you take it to a garage ,as a rear end oil seal involves a lot of work removing the gearbox to change a seal that take 5 mins to change and 3 hours to get at it.front end oil seal is about 2 hrs work after removing the timing belt ,again 5 mins to change seal and a good hour or so to get at it .

Rear end is poping when i make left turns.

totally clean out your rear end, taking back cover off and spray with cleaner and air hose. reinstall with new gasket glue and add new oil, but put in 2 bottles of anti slip differential oil, then top with gear oil. make several figure 8 's til rear end fully distributes oil thru out rear end. if rear end is dirty you may have to repeat this action after5000 km. diff slip oil can be purchased at dealer

You don't have too, but lucas oil is a fantastic addiditive that will last much longer. I add to to rear end, transfer case and oil. They also make a tranny additive as well.

There is a clanging noise when i put it in gear and can hear it while driving is it the rear end or universal joint

Check rear-end fluid level and play in rear pinion gear.
Check universal joints for play. If play is in pinion gear change rear end fluid and add a full bottle of LUCAS oil stabilizer, will quiet rear end noise.
