SOURCE: Rear Main Seal Leak

THat seems to be in the ball park. If you have an AWD, the flat rate time is 14.4 hours. If you have just a FWD, it is 9.5 hours. In either case, the transmission has to be removed from the vehicle to access this seal. Sorry.

SOURCE: rear main seal leaks..does this affect transmission??

A leaking rear main seal will not cause your transmission to leak.

The transmission has its own seal and should not leak because of the engine rear main seal.

Due to the labor involved in replacing the rear main seal on the engine, it is best if you replace the front transmission seal at the same time if possible.

Installation varies on different vehicles but the principles are the same.

Oil leaking from toyota camry 1992, 1994 model

You don't say what engine it has. The 4-cyl was a better than the V6 for oil leaks.

The V6 had oil leaks from

-rear bank cam cover gasket

-distributor o-ring seal

-oil filter bracket o-ring seal

-crankshaft nose oil seal (less common)

-rear main bearing oil seal (expensive, just leave it)

The 4 cyl leaked oil from

-distributor o-ring seal

-camshaft cover gasket

-rear main bearing seal (expensive, leave it)

Chevy S-10 Pickup Oil Leak

You sure the oil comes from the plug and doesnt just run down from above and drip of it? Clean aroun the area and take a drive look again and make sure its not cming from anywhere else. If its the plug, you just need to replace the washer on the plug next time you oil change. do not try to just tighten the plug. If you buist the thread in there that an expensive repair. It should not be very tight as the washer should seal it.

I need to replace the rear main seal on my 95 chevy pickup with a 350. do i need to drop the tranny?

Yes, either pull the trans or pull the engine. No way to get in there with out having one of the two out!
FYI it's very rare for a rear main on that engine to leak, Most all of the time it's the oil pan gasket or coming from higher up like a valve cover or the intake gaskets!

Oil leak in rear main area and I have already replaced it

Have you replaced the rear main seal? What bout the housing that holds the seal, it'a an alu casing and it might hava a crack? The crankshat rear part where the seal goes could have a deep groove as well.
