Question about 2001 Volvo V70

1 Answer

The winter/wet weather button won't work on my 2001 volvo cross country. It is supposed to light up and switch the car into AWD. The maual says to have the car in "Drive" when doing this. I have tried that and it still won't work

I have a 2001 Volvo v70 cross country AWD I added tranny fluid 4 qts but now tranny slips after going a couple miles what can I do to fix..

Four qts of tranny fluid is a lot if u didn't overfill it? About all you can try is a bottle of Transmedic or Transx type fluid from auto parts store. If that doesn't break sticking clutch plates loose you will have to replace the transmission or have it rebuilt.

What is winter mode

Andrew, in automatic equipped vehicles with winter/wet mode selection, I believe it starts vehicle off in a higher gear to prevent wheel spin. Your manual should explain what winter/wet mode is.
Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

2001 Dakota AWD truck is stuck in 4wd. When I try and switch it back to AWD indicatior light on switch blinks but it stays in 4wd.

hard to explain this one without getting to technical. down on the transmission or front differential is a solenoid for the 4 wheel drive. it sticks in cold weather and needs to be replaced. this should be done by a reputable shop as its kinda involved to do

2000 Cross Country Volvo Gear Switch position light

The bulb has burned out, this is quite common. It's a $5.00 -$10.00 part, and maybe a 1/2 hour to replace.

Unknown button

The rear window wiper could be any number of things, from a blown fuse to broken wires to a failed wiper motor. As for the "W" button, it's for Winter driving mode. It'll start the car off the line in 2nd gear to minimize torque to the road and thus control wheelspin, and it alters the shifting parameters of the car so that it remains as stable as possible in slippery conditions.
