Use a breaker bar or a pipe to slide over the wrench or ratchet. This will give you more leverage and break it loose. I nwould recommend a 1/2 drive ratchet if using a socket. Just be sure the socket or wrench is securely on the nut before lossening, otherwise it will slip.

It helps to explain what trouble you are having. The nut turns left. If you dont have the tools, then theres no way to get it off.

How to change the front differential on my 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 4 wheel drive.

Unless you are a seasoned mechanic with a lot of tools and a lift, take it to the shop. This swap is like a caesarian section on your truck. All kinds of things have to come loose, like axle shafts and crossmembers and hubs and such. Not something to learn how to do.

Trying to change a bad alternator that is on the bottom

must be a v-6?

You will need to remove the drive axle on the passenger side in order to get enough room to pull the alternator out. Its not to bad to do.

Separate the lower ball joint from the passenger front knuckle.

remove the axle nut and push the axle out of the hub.

remove the two bolts that hold the carrier bearing on the drive axle to the support bracket.

You will then be able to remove the entire axle from the vehicle. Have a drip pan ready to catch any trans fluid that may come out of the opening the axle goes into on the transmission.

Once the axle is out of the way you can remove the three bolts that hold the alternator in place. the top one only needs to be loose as the hole in the alt should be sloted. Unplug the connector and remove the battery cable from the alt. It will be a rubix cube but there will be a position that the alt will need to be in that will allow the alt drop come out of the opening left by the removal of the drive axle.

Procedure for changing bent r rear axle on 1997

if it has the four bolts that have a flange piece on it also then its just a unbolt and pull one.another sign of the unbolt/pull type is there is no removable cover on the back of the diff. i never undo nothing but the 4 bolts. i leave twn in but real loose so when i yank on the axle it wont break nothing when it cuts loose all of a sudden.

Need repair instructions for right front wheel assembly or hub (bearing) repair.

Hi, first put the van on jackstands and take the wheel off. then take the brake caliper and bracket, these are removed by loosening the bolts that hold the bracket to the spindle. then remove the rotor (you may have to give it a few love taps with a rubber mallet to break the rust loose), then you will need an axle nut socket set to remove the center large axle nut, this can be rented at any advance auto parts store or its equivalent. an impact gun will make removing this nut and the wheel bearing retainer bolts much quicker. once you get the axle nut loose you will need to take your rubber mallet or a brass hammer and hit the end of the cv axle to drive it out of the wheel bearing. finally remove the three wheel bearing retaining bolts located on the opposing side of the spindle, after that take any hammer and strike the wheel bearing on the backside to drive it out of the spindle( it may give a little bit of a fight to drive it out). then unclip the wire for the abs and remove the bearing. the assembly is just the reverse of the removal. good luck and have fun!

How to replace 2002 hyundai elantra hub and bearing

With the car on ground, break loose the drive-axle nut, and the wheel nuts , than jack up the car, support it properly, remove the wheel ,remove the axle-nut.
Remove the brake caliper assembly-- support it properly.
Remove the two bolts that hold the hub bracket to the Macpherson strut assemble, remove the lower arm ball joint and remove the steering tie- rod ball-joint attached to the hub bracket. That's it.Slide off the hub /with the bracket off the drive-shaft.
Follow steps backwards to assemble back.

I am replacing a track bar and am having trouble removing it how should it properly be removed without ruining the car

Unload the suspension and it should not give you too many problems.(in some cases, you need to partially load it again to get bolts free) Use lots of wd40 on bolts and if difficult to drive out, put the nut back on even with the bolt end before using a hammer on it...that will protect bolt threads from damage.

How to remove rear axel from ford crown victoria tne axel is loose and making noise leaking fluid i think it neds a new seal

do u mean the axle has "play" when u grab the tire and wiggle it up and down?? if it has play, then it propbably needs an AXLE SEAL AND AXLE BEARING.you will have to carefully inspect the axle itself where the bearing rides for any gouging or damage. THIS JOB requires a decent amount of mechanical skill. 1ST you need to remove the rear end COVER and drain out the gear oil into a drain pan.2ND remove the brake caliper and rotor . 3RD spin the" ring and pinion " around until u see a 5/16 bolt that passes thru from the pass. side to the drivers side. u have to remove this bolt. u will need to "hold "the gears from turning in order to break loose this bolt. 4TH remove this bolt and slide out the large metal ""PIN" that 'divides" the rear end in half. NOW CAREFULLY WITHOUT TURNING THE REAR END SPIDER GEARS,PUSH IN THE AXLE TOWARDS THE INSIDE SO U CAN REMOVE THE "C-CLIP" AT INNER END OF AXLE. now u can slide out axle and youll be able to replace seal and if needed axle bearing. let me know if u need more info.

I need to remove the outend of the drive axle and am having troubles getting the axle out of the hub. Every other place has indicated that it just slides nicely out with little or no force. However on this...

Put the axle nut back on backwards (flat side out, so flat is even with the axle end...give it a sharp blow with a decent sized hammer and it will break loose.
