What is trouble code 41 for 1988 olds 98???

It indicates a problem with the cam sensor. The problem could be a defective cam sensor or it could also be the magnet attached to the cam gear that the sensor detects. They have a history of falling off after many heating and cooling cycles. If the magnet (about the size of a dime) is missing, replacing the cam sensor won't help. The magnet will need to be replaced.

I replaced the distributer with a brand new one and this code continues to come up code 41

Hello Eddie, if you replaced the distributor with a new or rebuilt one, that should of included a new cam sensor, often called a hall effect sensor/switch. This is what this code is referring to. No camshaft position sensor pulse received by the PCM for 5.3 seconds...The code could be stored in the memory, which would show as history, as compared to a current code. If the fault is induced the code will set and the wiring should be repaired for an intermittent open or short to ground. Disconnect and reconnect the distributor connector and PCM connector and ensure they are clean & latched properly.
I hope this information is helpful.

I have a 91 olds Ninety eight regency elite Intermittently dies code 41 comes up cam sensor circut replaced cam sensor still dies could it be the crank sensor? thank you Michael Dale

cam sensor is only half of the cam circuit, the other half of the cam circuit is the magnet on the timing chain. the cam sensor reads from the magnet every time the engine completes a revolution,
what happens is the magnet on the chain will break into smaller piece which makes the sensor harder to read every time the engine make a complete revolution.
most likely you'll need to replace the timing chain to fix this.

1991 olds88 1 have changed cam sensor now a code 41.have no accelleration power

41 is cam sensor code. are you sure the magnet is still in the cam gear? use only quality parts. if the magnet is missing, you need to replace the timing gears/chain.

1989 lesabre engine codes

26 is a quad driver failure, 41 is a cam sensor failure. I can give you a test procedure for 26 but for 41 you likely need to replace the magnet that is in the cam gear for the cam sensor pick-up.
