Question about 2004 Saturn VUE

1 Answer

Hello, My 2004 Saturn Vue is making a surging vibration noise in the front end when it cruises at about 50 kms/hr or 1000 - 1500 rpm. It will shift through the gears and as soon as it cruises in 3rd gear the rpms bounce all over the place even when my speed is steady. I recently got new spark plugs to see if this would help the problem as well as a transmission flush, but the problem is still increasing. Please help Thank you

SOURCE: 2004 Saturn Vue shifting problem

You should probably check the shifter cable. I had the same thing happen and then I couldn't shift into 2nd, 4th, and reverse gears. Then the cable snapped and I had to replace it. Be careful "man-handling" the shifter. If you break the shift linkage at the base of the shifter it's about $45 from the dealership. It's cheap plastic and doesn't take much to break. If you really want to know if it's the shift cable and not the gearbox crank the engine, have someone hold the clutch, disconnect the shift cables from the box, and manually shift the gears. If they move smooth, it's probably your cable which would mean there's a kink in it somewhere. You can't fix that. Depending on the VIN you're looking at anywhere from $189 (what mine cost with tax) to a little over $200 (from the dealership brand new). Talk to the parts desk at a Saturn dealership and they can tell you which one you need. Hope this helps

SOURCE: location of the fuel filter on 2006 saturn vue

I believe the filter is actually a part of the fuel pump module. You have to replace the whole thing. You can contact Saturn parts to verify this.

2004 saturn vue at low speed engine rpm up and down

I have the same problem with my 04 v6 awd vue.
The issue i see is with the transmission torque converter going in and out of lockup consistently. I have noticed when i engage cruise control this problem goes away for the most part. Today i turned on cruise at 30 miles per hour after noticing the rpm fluctuation about 400 rpm. change to only about 100 rpm. This has been an issue scene day one from the dealer. no codes, the transmission has not failed nor the torque converter. I think it is an issue with the drive by wire system. when you engage cruise control the foot throttle position sensor is out of the equation. This is my best guess, you can take it with a grain of salt.

My 2004 Vue makes a very consistent winding type sound while driving. It starts out low and increases to a point and never veries until I slow down. What could that be? No front end deviation, no...

Try swerving back and forth when you hear this. If the pitch changes while swerving one way or the other, it is probably the wheel bearing and it needs a new hub. Not too hard to change.

Noise in the front end when I reach 30-40kms an hr and continues while driving. Does'nt make this noise while idling or going under 30 kms an hour. Sounds like a boat with a motor in the water or like it...

Sounds like one of your wheel bearing in the front are bad..Jack the front up and spin each tire and you'll find the problem.Have a great day..

Rear wheel/brake noise

first check condition of discs and pads if all is good drive and pull up handbrake slowly to see if its the handbrake shoes making the noise if still a problem will most probably be rear wheel bearings

2004 Saturn Vue Brakes

The vibration is caused by the rotors being warped. Remove the front tires and check the front brake pads. Replace if needed. This is a pretty straight forward job. The rotors are "fall off" rotors and you won't need anything special tool wise.
