1990 jeep pops and you've gotta put it in neutral, stop, then back in gear, if you give it too much gas go REALLY easy and it got me home... transmission/transfer case/rear axle ???

Does it do this in any specific gear or all of them ? If it is just 5th gear it is a somewhat common problem that I have seen. The transmission should be rebuilt or replaced.

What kind of oil goes in the transfer case

It depends on your transfer case

spicer 18 and 20 takes 80W-90 gear oil
dana 300 takes 85W-90 gear oil.

I personally don't think it would matter either way if you put 85 or 80. They both lube well. Thats my opinion.

WHEN I AM IN DRIVE MY TRANIE SCREAMS AND MAKES A REALLY LOUD GRINDING SOUND! WHAT COULD IT BE?

Automatic ? Worn Out Main Bearing in the Transmission, if it is 4x4, check Transfer Case too, best if to put your truck on block, no wheel touching the floor, put it in gear and check underneath where the noise is coming from ! Could need to Replace the Transmission or Replace the bearing inside, check if it has full oil too.. !

How much gear oil does a transfer case hold

1. Park the truck on a level ground.
2. Remove the drain plug on the side of the transfer- case. When the gear-oil starts to flow down from that side drain-plug, the correct amount of gear-oil is reached.
3. Replace the side-drain plug, and torque to 18-foot pounds.

What kind of oil do I put into the transfer case? Is that why the computer keeps saying check 4 wheel drive?

no, DO NOT use gear oil. The transfer case uses the same type of automatic transmission fluid that the transmission uses. Is the display saying "service 4x4 switch"? If so it is common and the 4WD indicator light switch is bad and needs replaced. It's only purpose is to tell the driver info center what 4 wheel drive mode the transfer case is in. This switch will not affect the function of the 4 wheel drive. The correct fluid for the transfer case is +4 automatic transmission fluid.

ROYAL PURPLE IS THE BEST PRODUCT YOU CAN PUT A DIME INTO

now that my shameless behavior and support of my favorite product is over call Phone: 281-354-8600
and they will tell you what fluid you need for each part. I don't recamend using there motor oil just for driving around because its very expensive but if your just changing it out once a year man you cant do any better than this stuff.
here is there web site check it out for yourself

You will never go back to anything else after you use this product.

You Definately have a Gear Broken in the Transfer Case. It is not Easy to Rebuild. I would find a Tranny Shop and see if they could rebuild it for you. Tranny shops here in OKLAHOMA Do.

1990 Suzuki Escudo 4 wheel drive

As far as I know the procedure should go something like this...

Stop the vehicle, engage the parking brake and if applicable, get out and turn the hubs on the front wheels from Free, to Lock.(You may not have these on a Suzuki, they may be auto-lockers)

Get back in the vehicle and put the transmission shift selector into Neutral.

If you have a manual transfer case, move the selector-shaft to 4x4-High, or 4x4-Low -- whichever is desired. Now, putting the vehicle in gear with the transfer case is sometimes somewhat difficult. As long as the vehicle's transmission is in neutral, don't worry, the gears inside the transfer case are big and beefy -- Don't be afraid to be rough -- Again as long as the transmission is in neutral. You may also have to disengage the parking brake and slightly let the vehicle roll forward or back with your foot-brake to get the Transfer case to lock into place.

Once 4x4 of the selected High, Or Low range is selected, usually indicated by the vehicle jerking slightly with a slightly loud clank/thud. Move the Transmission selector out of neutral into your desired gear (Drive if Automatic, if Manual, whichever gear you pull out from). and voila! You should now be in 4-Wheel-Drive.

To disengage 4-Wheel-Drive. Just reverse the steps.
