  1. sounds like while replacing the pump, dirt in the line was broken loose and has stuck in the needle and seat in the carb.
  2. try this start truck
  3. turn truck off
  4. remove fuel line fron carb inlet
  5. while holding thumb over end of line
  6. start truck
  7. throttle engine to high rpm 3000rpm until it runs out of gas
  8. reconnect fuel line
  9. start truck
  10. this may wash the dirt out if not carb will have to be dissassembled to clean needle and seat

1989 gmc once it warms up it starts to flood it self out

Are you sure it's flooding or starving itself of gas? Rent a fuel pressure gauge from auto zone and check your fuel pressure is exactly what it is supposed to be. Fuel pump can warm itself up and and kinda fizzle out so check when warm and cold.

Fuel pump issue, gradual flooding

NEED TO QUIT GUESSING.. IS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON.. SCAN FOR CODES. IF NONE THEN NEXT STEP IS TO CHECK FUEL PRESSURE.. IF IT IS GOOD.. THEN IF IT IS FLOODING OUT. ONCE IT IS FLOODED YOU CAN PULL SPARK PLUGS AND FIND THE ONE THAT IS WET,,, SUSPECT THAT INJECTOR TO BE STUCK OPEN

If its a (holley) motorcraft 2 bbl carb sounds like the power valve. They typically blow out whenever the engine backfires or they just wear out after time and flood the idle circuit.
