Running on 4 cylenders instead of 8. already replaced brain ,checked injecters for pulse and not all pulse

Sir, before you invest in a engine computer check the injector fuses, there are two. If one is open 4 injectors will not fire. If a fuse is blow (open) then the wires going to the injectors may be shorted or one of the injectors may be shorted. you can determine that by checking the resistance of each injector. The under hood fuse box contains the fuses for the injectors, #7 fuse is for #'s2-3-5-8 fuse #8 is for the remaining. The injectors have 12 Volts available to them the engine computer provides the ground to fire the injectors. Hope this helps, Thanks

We check injectors with a needle stethoscope to locate the bad one. After we use injectors check lamp, (it is not costly and you can buy on line). If the light pulse, we replace the injector. If not then is an electrical problem. If you will replace the injectors please, buy original one from Cadillac Dealer, they are expensive. I bought aftermarket for north star engine, they were bad, and I bought again the original one. No more problems with injectors. Mine is a Cadillac Seville SLS. Hope will help.

Throttle body injection I assume , watch butterfly on injector and c if it injects fuel , if it starts w ether but shuts off its still not getting fuel into cylenders and since your fuel pressure to engine is normal , the problem is in the throttle body or injection ..possible electrical ...if for some reason u still have a carbureted engine hit me back up it could be sumin diff

What generates fuel injection pulse on a 1994 geo metro base model? I have replaced alternator, TBI injector, and ECU. Checked relays, fuel pump and filter. Feed and return line are clear. On startup I get...


The PCM (ECU does that) its part of what is called EFI, electronic fuel injection, it's a computer, that gets inputs, and uses those inputs to injector perfectly at ALL times.
what engine? 3cy. or 4? is it TBI injected or MPI injected
1 injector or 4? we need to know that first.
does it run on test fuel for 3 seconds.
when was last time it run perfect, last week last year. what?
first off stop guessing, you can go broke that way.
want to diagnosis it? the steps are easy. if fuel is good..
  1. fuses good.?
  2. CEL lamp glow keyon, if not ECU is bad. or bulb , it must glow.
  3. compression over 150PSI on all cyl. (w.o.t = wide open throttle)
  4. do a 60k, mile tune up yet, filters, spark,. and cam timing belt.?
  5. if not, why wait?
  6. 6: is spark good tall cylinders not just 1? is the timing way off if yes, the cam belt did slip, do not fiddle tiiming, fix the belt. first.
  7. ok it now magically runs on test fuel for 3 seconds and sounds great. so we do fueling last.
  8. fuel pressure tests are next. takes $20 gauge got one?
  9. ill stop here, as fueling tests are long play.l..... ask. if you can get to step 9,

I think all 94 metors are TBI engines, one injector
up to 1997 inclusive.
then the 1998 offered 4cyl, MPI injected engine.


have you learned how to use flash codes (DTC) yet?
insert jumper , key on, see CEL lamp glow and flash 12s'
the crank for 5seconds, see if the flashes go to 41 or 42?
bingo if yes.
the TBI allows the mech to watch injection, at the TB.
with top hose off. you can watch it inject as person 2 cranks.
does it?
the ECU brain cuts fuel at the first sign of:
  1. lost spark (to stop fires)
  2. lost Cmp sensor, same .
  3. TPS ground wire busted and ecu things foot is W.O.T (super secret unflood mode) (or TPS cracked in half inside)
or total loss of fuel pressure.

Locating cam postioning sensor


Probably not, then. My understanding of the cam position sensor is that it is for sequential multi-port injection, and not for the older style of multi-port injection. In sequential injection, the computer times the injector pulse to coincide with the intake valve opening, and so the need for a camshaft sensor. Before sequential, the injectors were often "bank fired"- all the injectors on one side or bank of the v-6, v-8 were pulsed at the same time. 4 cylinder engines were similar I think, two injectors at a time were pulsed. GM started using SEFI back around 1991, I think, but took a few years before it was widely used.

the 8 cyclinder engine is one of the best you will get, forget about all the rest,so this puzzles me,what makes you think this engine is on 4 cyclinders because it should not start on 4,you are not telling me the full story,what happened what was the org problem,please come back to me as this is a new one on me.adrian

Considering the size and weight of the Tahoe, running on 4 cylinders would be less fuel efficient then running on all 8. Its like having one horse pull a cart instead of two, sure it takes more hay to feed two horses but combine they work a lot less to get the job done. I can't image running a Tahoe on a 4cyl engine, the acceleration would take donkeys years to get up to speed, it would be struggling and working its guts out to get anywhere with that minimal horsepower. I think your best bet, dump the Tahoe and get something smaller and more efficient. Owning a SUV these days is like owning a very hungry horse, it needs to be fed if you want to use it. If you can't afford the fuel its using its time to put it to pasture and get something else! The 5.3L is a gas guzzler, just how it is, i haven't seen one yet that did better then 15-18mpg on the highway, and thats usually at the top of their range under ideal conditions. Your probably better off with something smaller with a V6 or even an inline 4. But your not going to fix your issues by crippling the Tahoe.

WELL THAT YEAR YOU HAD THROTTLE BODY FUEL INJECTION AND MULTIPORT FUEL INJECTION. IF YOU HAVE MULTIPORT FUEL INJECTION. YOU COULD HAVE DEAD FUEL INJECTOR OR LOW COMPRESSION AND INTAKE LEAK TO CYLINDER 1. CHECK COMPRESSION THAT WILL TELL YOU WHAT HAPPING.YOU COULD HAVE A SLIGHT HEAD GASKET LEAK.

2001 Ford Windstar runs rough.


remove the coil pack and look at bottom of it if it shows any cracks coil is bad very common on these vans if you have a noid light check for injector pulse on #4 if you have pulse and good blue spark most likely the injector is bad you have to remove upper plenum to get injectors out let me know how you make out

the last number in a po30 code is the cylender with the missfire. you say you have po306 and po302 which means #6 and#2 are missfiring. if you stand in front of car the passenger side has 1 through 4 cylenders starting with # 1 in front and # 4 in rear and driver side has 5 through 8 starting with # 5 in front and # 8 in rear. passenger side 1 2 3 4 - driver side 5 6 7 8. if you have indavidual coils on each plug then just unplug the coil and take the single 7mm screw out that holds it in place and the coil will come straight up off the plug

You may consider tracing back from coil back to the main plug and checking wires going into and coming out of the plug for any broke wires make sure to look for collapsed casings sometimes the wires will break internally
