I have a 1997 Ford Aspire. When you put it into drive, and press on the gas, car will not move. Possible Transmission problems? If I want to replace the transmission myself is there a repair manual on line that I can get to show pictures of the transmission a step by step instructions? Is it easy to replace the transmissionZ?

The OD solenoid in the transmission or the transmission control module is defective. It's also possible the torque converter clutch plates are worn. That's where over drive comes from

I would guess the torque convertor has failed and you need it replaced

If your Transmission has been replaced tice, your car wont go into the park gear and it's a 1997 Ford Taurus is it worth it to continue to put money into it. It goes up hill sometimes so slow I feel...

It sounds like a few things are going on. but i would put my money on a poorly adjusted or wrongly adjusted transmission selector. take it back and ask the people that installed the transmission to see if the adjustment is off.

My 1997 Ford Explorer just stopped in it's place when I was driving it. I would put it into drive and put my foot on the gas and it would not move and I tried to put it in reverse and it would do the same...

tranny is getting ready to die. do you smell any tranny fluids or see any red fluid spots on the driveway? before panic sets in , I would first go to autozone and buy a can of transmission doctor. add it and see if any changes. if there are changes for the better then sounds like a good fluid fush and filter change may be the sure fix.

I have a 1997 ford taurus. i put the car in drive and it will hardly move forward. the engine runs fine and was drive ok until this happened. reverse seems to be ok.

The first thing I would do is check the transmission fluid level.

The unfourtunate thing on these certain cars they are very notorious for having transmission problems. I am sure it is nothing you have done wrong, Ford had a lot of issues with their transmissions through those years.

I hope this helps, Allen
