That's a neat trick! If it feel into the pan, you are probably ok, but I'd drop the pan to make sure. Not a task for novice mechanics though, unless the pan is clear of obstructions.

How do I get my transmission out of safe mode in my 99 mercury sable

find the trouble code & reset / clear it

if it does come back with the same code, then you'll have to either rollup your sleeves and get that bad part replaced and / or trace the wiring to whatever solenoid or sensor that failed

until you do so, your vehicle will protect the transmission by not going past that set speed limit

Transmition dont change from 3rd to 4th speed Hyundai Sonata v6 1997 3.0L it get neutral while trying to change

I take it that this transmission is a 5 speed manual transmission. Make sure that you have plenty of clutch fluid in the clutch master cylinder and that the pedal is properly adjusted. If so, then you may have internal problem with the syncro sleeves.

Speed odmeter does not work - how to repair

Most cars of 98 vintage will use a square section cable drive cable to deliver rotational information from the side of the transmission final drive to the odometer. Check the speedo cable connection to the transmission, the end of the cable sleeve has a flange that is held into a recess on the side of the transmission by a circlip. The square section cable sticks out of the end of the flanged sleeve and engages with a square socket within the transmission. A similar arrangement is found on the rear of the odometer except the sleeve is usually attached by a threaded circular nut. Make sure the ends are attached.

CANT FIND WHERE THE SPEED SENSOR IS NO MY 1995 OLDSMOBILE AURORA

hi , their is two different speed sensors on your vehicle one is the input speed sensor which is inside the transmission and the transmission will have to be removed to replace it the other one s the output speed sensor is located directly above the passenger side trans-axle shaft. your input sensor is the sensor which tells the transmission when to shift and the output speed sensor tells the speedometer what it should display and both those parts are fairly cheap they are around 15-25 dollars but just remember if your input speed sensor is bad it is gonna cost you a minimum of 1000 dollars to have a mechanic fix as the transmission needs to be removed hope this is what you needed

My speed ometer and odometer dont work also my driver information

You;ll want to look for a cable that runs from the transmission into the firewall, this usually controls the speedometer and odometer, depending on the configuration. If it is an analog odometer/speedometer, this is most likely where your problem is. The other alternative to this is a speed sensor gear that meshes with the main ring gear in the transmission which drives this cable. If you have no experience with transmissions, changing the speed sensor gear would probably better be left to a mechanic. I have seen many of these cables wear, and develop rust, then your driving along, and they break in half, since the cable actually spins inside a plastic sleeve.

Speed omeder

Sounds like your speedometer cable is binding inside its sleeve. If you can get it loose from the rear of the instrument cluster in the dash (typically just pull the entire instrument cluster assembly out the front after taking out a couple or three screws) just shoot some dry graphite powder into it (available at Ace or Home Depot). Don't use oil or WD-40, as that will probably make it worse. It's doubtful that it's the transmission itself, the speedo is a simple thing driven by a cable from the transmission to the dash.
