If the car sits for an extended period of time I have to reset the switch several times to get the car to start. Is the switch going bad? I bought the car in the spring and had no problem. I wonder if the cold is doing this

Sometimes the starter relay and/or solonoid can cause that. or low battery amps, and yes, it can be the ignition switch too.

Mitsubishi Mighty Max 92 needs to be trouble shot. Started up after sitting for an extended period of time, what parts were affected. It dosnt want to shift or drive really

I recommend changing out your transmission fluid, make sure you replace the screen too. After a vehicle have set for a long period of time it s good to flush all the fluids if you did replace them prior to the vehicle being stored.

I accidently drove my 2000 Dodge Stratus through 1 foot of standing water. Will my engine be damaged

If your engine didn't die, it'll be fine. If the engine did die, it will probably start and run fine if it's allowed to sit for a time so that it can dry itself out. THAT is IF your engine simply got a little wet so as to cause the ignition system to fail. What can be pretty bad, though, is if the car is allowed to sit for an extended period of time in deep water.... or the water is deep enough or splashed hard enough that your air intake for your engine starts sucking in water. If it was only a foot of water, and you weren't going fast, things should be okay. If your air intake has sucked in quite a bit of water, your engine probably needs professional care.

At smog shop guy says 4 problems saying not ready go drive car for 50 miles.did that and still saying not ready

The car has to go through a certain number of driving cycles (start, drive, shut down) after the computer has been reset or the battery disconnected for an extended period of time before it will be ready, sometimes 50 or more depending on the vehicle. You could drive 1,000 miles and it wouldn't make a difference. Take your car on multiple short trips, around 15-20 minutes each, letting it sit for a while in between. Just starting and shutting down the car won't count either.

Miss sometime after sitting

It it sits for an extended period of time this could be due to bad gas (gas can go bad in as little as two weeks when left sitting); or it could be you have bad vale seals or other seals leaking slightly. This can only be determined by doing a good check out of the engine and systems.

If it only does it for a min or two after sitting then starting, I wouldn't worry too much. Alot depends on the age of the motor and how many miles you have.

Starting problem after engines warm smell gas

I had the same problem. It may start to or already is stalling as you slow down or stop. I changed my fuel pressure switch located right on the fuel rail on top of the motor. It's about $80.
