I have a 2006 Hummer 3. The power steering gets stiff and hard to turn intermittently. I have the factory recommended tires and have the truck serviced every 4000 miles.

Driving without power steering is possible, but difficult. It should not be considered "safe" but it will get you to the garage. And a slow leak can have a quick fix, but should be serviced soon.
If you are having power steering problems, you can do without temporarily, but you should get it serviced as soon as you can!

If you are having problems with your vehicle's power steering, you more than likely have a leak. Be it a slow or fast leak, it should be fixed as soon as possible. You may, however just be low on power steering fluid. You should check all the fluids in your vehicle regularly.

If your notice one day that your power steering starts whining and slowly get worse over a few days or weeks, you most likely have a slow leak. If all of the sudden your power steering goes out, then you may have a blown seal. Or you may have a leaky power steering pump.

Hope helps.

I find it hard to believe that one of the tubes of steering oil could be blocked unless hit, so I would go for the pump. Poor oil pressure, ends up to low oil flow. However check your tubes, from and to the pump, and then, go for the pump. Sorry I can't tell you more.

Ok, if that is the case, unfortunately, your pump waved goodbye. What I don't know is if you can repair it, or buy a new one. You need to find a shop that specializes on hydraulics, and seek help there. Those pumps are a combination of internal "tunnels" that when steering, drive the oil in different directions. Could be simply wear of the internal sealers and therefore no guidance of the oil. Classic failure. H3 is indeed a big mass vehicle. I would go for a stronger after market pump.

I got a 2006 hummer h2 i got a problem whith the steering wheel it gets hard but i already replaced the power steering pump gearbox hydro booster and 2 pressure lines what could be the problem

Have you bled all the air out of the system when all that work was done? It's simple. With the engine running, turn the wheel all the way to the right stop and then all the way to the left stop several times. Check the level in the power steering pump to see if it went down any. If it did then there was air in it. top it off if necessary.

Why does steer so hard

Unfortunately there are several reasons why it could turn hard.
1) Low tire pressure. Make sure the tires are inflated properly.
2) Power steering fluid low. Normally low fluid will make a noisy sound when the engine is running.
3) A suspension component such as a ball joint or tie-rod end that has begun to seize up.
I would check all of those issues first before moving on to the power steering pump or steering rack.
Good luck.

Can someone in SG recommend me a good mechanic to fix my Murano stiff steering wheel

I would recommend that you find an accredited steering specialist shop rather than try to find a general mechanic as good well trained mechanics are hard to find.

My steering is so hard

Is it making a groaning noise? The power steering fluid reservoir might be empty. Very low tire pressure also causes hard steering.

If it's the electrical motor type of pump, you must connect to a full scale scanner like Lexia 3 to get it reset.

2003 honda accord 2.4 power stering hard, replace pump got little softer but still hard

The steering is controlled by the steering rack,
& they get stiff because no one changes the fluid
every 3 years

The upper strut bearings fail & make steering stiff

Doubt the pump was a problem at all

Have you checked the steering fluid? If that is good, it may be the pump

Golf 3 gsx no powersteering , steering very stiff

Have you checked the tyre pressures. If you have no power steering a flat tyre will make tunning the wheels hard due to more turnning rsistance. Also a seized ball joint some where would also make steering hard.Hope this helps
