Just a thought. Could you have a bad spot on your flywheel.
You might be able to put emergency brake on and have in neutral. try to turn engine with head of the crank shaft bolt that will change the position of flywheel. Then try and start..
video with a lot of info on basic of test starter system(mostly dealing with battery voltage) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RKjdnQ0sHQc
Basic info on how starter system operates https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_rBNtSgfCkk
Second video has some info on turn crankshaft to inspect teeth, short in starter wire can cause starter to continue to spin or overheat and cause a fire.
Try and lightly tap your starter with a hamer if the truck starts when you do that then it's starter if you turn key on and try to turn over and it doesn't it could be your ac cluch or it could be silinoide
side of frame when you pop hood
You may need to take the starter off and have it bench tested. The problem could be the starter drive, or you could have some missing teeth on the flywheel. The drive is supposed to extend when the starter spins to make contact with the teeth on the flywheel. You could also try turning the crank a few inches and try the starter again.
hot wire starter you can short out ignition switch and wiring. to jump starter ignition switch start postion.you have to run 10 gauge jumper wire from the starter solenoid positive battery terminal to starter switch or S terminal on starter solenoid this procedure take two people but better remove starter replace starter solenoid. trying jumping off starter on camaro would be dangerous you have jack up car to get to starter and wiring person laying under car hot wiring starter while other person hold ignition start position put person under car in deadly position just remove starter have auto parts check it out first replace starter or solenoid if either bad. easier hot wire starter if starter under hood like my 1977 vega monza had starter at top could take long screw driver jump starter off.on the four cylinders engines back in the 70s. camaro starter under car dangerous trying to hot wire not a good idea.
if when trying to start the car it just clicks you can try tapping the starter while someone tries to start it.if it starts when tapping then the starter needs replacing.if it still just clicks then you could have a starter solenoid problem(still should replace starter)the only way to properly check it is to have a starter draw test done on the starter both with the motor cold and hot if you can get it started as amperage draw will increase with temperature.
if the clicking noise is at the starter and the battery is good then it sounds like the starter solenoid or the starter itself will need to be replaced.if you try tapping the starter when someone tries starting it and it starts then you will need to replace the starter motor.
If you have the proper voltage at the starter, (battery voltage) and the starter won't turn, it is the starter or the engine. Try turning the engine over with a wrench on the harmonic balancer.
dead batterry or bad starter ,try charging battery if still no turover try tapping on starter with a hammerseveral times while someone tries to start ,if turns over when starter tapped by hammer, the starter is bad. also check all fuse and wires going to starter.
