Not 100% positive, but it maybe the head gasket. Check the oil for antifreeze and the antifreeze for oil mixing.

I have a 2005 vw caddy 2lt sdi it take ages to start and when driving black smoke comes out of the back under load. can you help?

Black smoke is fuel. Sounds like your choke is stuck on or if you have not changed your air filter in ages it could be real dirty so the fresh air won't get into your carb. I have seen filters so dirty the engine actually choked itself to *****. Is your check engine light on? You could have a bad fuel sensor or air flow sensor. That would do it as well. If you are driving with black smoke your gas mileage will be poor also.

Heavy exhaust smoke coming from tail pipes while sitting still or taking off. What's the problem

Is it black? black smoke means you are burning too much gasoline could be a bad choke or even a dirty air filter.
Blue smoke means you are burning oil out of your engine
.White means water getting into crank case or pistons.

2004 f150 5.4 on initial takeoff truck does not want to accel idles roug, blows black smoke last nightwould start but then died right away. started this morning but not running good burns ALOT of fuel

Did you take a look at your oil dipstick? Was there any water drops on it? From the limited information you give, it sounds like you could have a blown head gasket.

Check your dipstick and see if you find any signs of coolant on it, If you do, most autoparts stores sell a hydrocarb tester to verify it.

Everytime i start it, it spits out black smoke real bad...warms up and only smokes a lil on take offs..Can the lean burn or egr thing be taken off car and still run fine?

This problem is caused by bad electric choke, or improperly adjusted choke. The Electronic Fuel Control system, as well as EGR, don't come into play until the thing's warmed up. Check the electric choke and its adjustment, also check the choke control on the right rear of the intake, and the charge temp sensor adjacent to the choke control, just in front of the distributor.

No power some times black smoke comeing out

That sounds like engine flooding, getting too much gas. Have electric choke checked for one but black smoke with drop in power must be too much gas at times.

Thick black smoke coming out of tailpipe . Choke seems to be working ok

Your choke is working to good, to much fuel not enough air, if smoking after engine is at normal engine need to have coolant temp. sensor or your map sensor check, both act like a choke, you'll need to do a computer scan, also have engine check for a miss fire, well also cause a rich problem.

Stalling and black smoke

Your truck is fuel injected . Black smoke indicates a rich fuel mixture. This could be caused by numerous items. A faulty sensor, a faulty injector, a misfiring spark plug are some of them. To really zone in on the problem, a computer diagnosis is required to note sensor readings, and repair as necessary.
