If the security light is on, it can only be one thing. This light indicates a failure in the antitheft system that will eventually lead to your car refusing to start or continue running. Here is a link with alot of info, plus ways to beat this problem.
the thermostat is located inside the upper radiator hose where it attaches to the front/top of the motor. Undo the clamp on the large hose at that point using a screwdriver. Pull the hose off and you will see the round thermostat sitting in the "neck" that the hose was wrapped around. Take out the thermostat using a screwdriver by prying it out. Take note how the thermostat was sitting because when installing the new thermostat you must make sure the same side is facing outward or you will get it in backwards. Put the new thermostat back in the same way and then replace the hose and clamp and tighten.
It could be the security system...It often times masks its self as a starter ignition or battery issue....If this is the problem turn your key to the accessory mode for ten minutes...have jumper cables and another vehicle on hand should your battery die...This seems to be a common issue on these vehicles but if this is the problem it should start after leaving it on accessory for 10 min
look under the hood and on the left side in the far back there should be a few switches. to help you locate it..look for a green "square" fuse looking box. THATS NOT IT! the same shaped box but black is the relay switch. look by the wiper blades area.
