Regardless of what makers say,my own recomendation is to change belts at 60k/5years and chains at 100/10years.and at the same time, the tensioners.they(the makers)dont pay the bill when it snaps.......i have heard others disagree...but thats their opinion.

Timing chain? When it goes bad. If you're reffering to the belt on the front of the motor, you can wait till it goes bad or change it whenever you want. I would reccomend every 20 to 25 thousand miles.

I own a 2002 acura tl, last yr I had the timing belt changed. Once in while I noticed from a stop as I accelerated the car did not respond, but the engine accelerated. since then it has happened more...

Sounds like the transmission is starting to slip. If you have an Acura dealer check for fault codes, you will more than likely find a malfunction code for the transmission.

The TSX, RSX, RDX, models have chains. MDX 3.7L, RL 3.5L, TL 3.2L, TL 3.5L, ALL have belts. You did not specify your model #. Hope this helps.

Should I replace the timing belt & water pump at the 90k for my 2005 acura tl

Yes it would be a very good idea to change them all at once. You can't go wrong there because most timing belts and water pumps go out around 90-100,000 miles. Go for it I would.

Good Luck!

ACURA

thats a lot of miles . I would check to see when the timing belt was last changed and if it is an automatic i would let the car warm up and the pull the tranny stick out and smell the fluid to see if it is burnt but thats a lot of miles and problems will pop up
