Question about 2000 Jaguar S-Type
I am having problems with the drive gear it seems like its not going into gear. It drives fine when Im shifting it in 2,3rd and 4th gear. I have had the gearbox function light came on then will reset its self. I was having the check engine light on and skips between 40 and 60? Its a 2000 S type 8v with 61,000 miles! Does anyone know what could be wrong?

P0734 Gear 4 Incorrect ratio.
I would appear that your J-Gate shift cable has become misadjusted and what you are experiencing is the computer not seeing the tranny being completely in the D position. If it isn't that, then I would be looking at the range sensor for some form of electrical problem. If both of those check out fine, then you are looking at an internal failure of the tranny.
P0741 Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Performance or Stuck Off.
The P0741 is normally indicative of torque converter problem, and TCM would have to be programmed once installed. If this dont work, sorry not to give you better news, having a new Torque Converter.
