Try testing the battery, take it to your local auto parts and have them test the battery, if the battery is bad it will eventually not take a charge even with a jump. Good Luck.

My f -250 460 engine won't do anything with the key but starts with key in on position and I Jump the two terminals next to the battery, forgot what that part is called.

See there Kevin...

You did all the trouble shooting yourself.

It is called the "starter solenoid"... and
that is where the battery "B" is supplied back to that
"SOLENOID" from the "S" lead by operating the ignition switch to "start"...

Which should close those BIG terminals you are "jumping"
(DISCONNECT the ground BEFORE starting any power work).

Although no longer referred to as the "460"... I assumed the 1997
for pricing purposes...

1999 mercury villager jumps time 20 mins after start up won't run till next day

What do you mean by 'jumps time' like engine timing? As in cam sensor? Crank position sensor?
Do you have any trouble codes? If so what are they?

I had a similar problem with my old 1996 Mercury Sable. Turns out the problem was the Ignition switch was shot. Replaced it, problem solved.

That would be the next thing to check.

On the next start my car toyota corall 97 won't start

Probably the battery or the battery cables.

If you can get it jump started, take it to an auto parts store and have them load test your battery. Most of the stores do this for no charge.

This sounds like issues with the electrical system, Needs to be tested, but your desctiption sounds like a battery type of issue. Charging system puts out enough at speed, but at idle, cannot overcome dead battery.

Charge the battery INDEPENDANTLY and FULLY. This takes 4 - 6 hours on a shop charger, longer on a home one. Then load test the battery...the results of that test tell you where to go next.

DO NOT JUST parts replace, too expensive..

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY 1999 GMC YUKON WITH THE 5.7 ENGINE HAVING TO JUMP START ALL THE TIME TO GET IT RUNNING, THE PROBLEM WITH MINE WAS THE FUEL PUMP HAD TO BE REPLACED, EVEN WHEN I REMOVED THE PUMP AND TURNED THE KEY FUEL PUMPED OUT BUT WAS NOT ENOUGH PRESSURE TO GET AND KEEP THE ENGINE RUNNING.I ALSO TRIED STARTER FLUID, THE ENGINE WOULD RUN UNTIL THE FLUID BURNED OFF.SO THE SOLUTION FOR MY TRUCK WAS THE FUEL PUMP AND NOW ITS STARTING LIKE A CHAMP
