Question about Nissan Murano

Open Question

I own a 2006 Murano. The Intelligent Key will not allow me to start the car without fiddeling with it. I turn the steering wheel back and forth and eventually it will allow me to turn on the ignition. This usually takes 30 seconds to a minute. The outside entry and locking work fine. I have found that if I remove the actual key from the fob and use it to start the car it works fine. I am retired and the car will sit for a few days without starting. After I get it to start it seems to be fine for the rest of the day. The next time I try to start it after it sits overnight it will give me problems. Is it possible that I need to change the battery and if so, where is it?

SOURCE: lotus elise 2005 fob and key does not work

Re-synchronize the FOB if the problem is with just one key.

1. Hold down both buttons simultaneously until the fob LED goes out. (10 seconds)

2. Release both buttons -- the LED should come on and stay on.

3. Press the larger fob button for a second, and the LED should flash.

IF re-synchronization doesn't work, you may have to replace the fob. Call customer service with your PIN (on the key-card that came with the keys). IF you don't have the PIN, then you need to call customeor service to confirm/register your ownership of the car.

If the keys are re-synchronized and it still doesn't work:

Re-program.

1. Re-synchronize as above, if you have not done so.

2. Turn the ignition on 3 times within 7 seconds. The red light above the odometer should light and stay on for 3 seconds.

3. Enter the PIN. Immediately after the red light goes out as per 2 above, switch on the ignition and count the number of flashes until it equals the number of the first digit on your PIN, then turn the ignition off, then on again. Do this for all four numbers.

4. What a pain, but if you get it wrong on a count, then you can restart by turning the ignition off for 10 seconds.

5. After the fourth digit, if the PIN is correct, the red light will stay on. Then you can re-test the fobs, and it should work.

Otherwise, call customer service.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: I need to change batterry

Go to the dealer it's one of the more reasonable parts you can get there. Alternatively check a place like Interstate battery, if they don't have the battery you need they can get it.

I have a 99 Suburban. Sterring wheel is locked and will not unlock to turn key.

Some times just putting pressure on the steering wheel either left or right turnwill allow the key to be turned. What happens is corrosion sets up and does not allow the steering wheel to turn completely to its index position. Just jiggling it back an forth will allow it to index. After you get it to turn properly, squirt a little WD-40 into the key hole and work the steering back and forth while turning the key.

My key wont turn, so i cant move my car how can i fix this? we have moved the steering wheel shitloads to unlock it. i think my friend may have put a different key in and its now jammed?

without taking the steering column apart, I would first try to get the key out of the steering wheel by turning steering wheel back and forth, don't worry about putting some effort into it. keep the steering wheel moving and turn the key back and forth at the same time. It might take some time but its the only way to get the key out of lock position.

Steering column locked

When you get the key into the ignition, Try turning the wheel to one side or the other as you turn the key. Some vehicle's steering columns will "lock" if the wheel is turned to tightly when the ignition gets turned off. Hope that helps.
