Question about Dodge Stratus

I'm a women and don't know much about cars. I did get it hooked up to the machine when the engine light came on and it said there was a problem with the vacuum hose and that It would be cheaper to find the leak when I can't seem to find where the vacuum hose is.

Suggest with engine running, listen for hissing sound around your motor. look for unplugged round black lines on the motor. if you can't find it like that suggest you search for honest shop or someone you can trust. not a huge price to only connect a vacum line. hope this helps!!!

Under your hood, will be a label mark vacuum routing, those will be the only vacuum hoses your car has, you can listen for hissing sound, and if that don't work, get a spray bottle with water, spray around all hoses and gaskets, gaskets is where two parts of the engine were put together, if you still can't find it, you might want to take it to a repair shop.

Hi, the vacuum hose is part of the ****** sytem of carburetter type cars and when the car starts this vacuum sytem moves the points base to allow the engine to rev, up. new cars don't have this system because the (engine manament unit) controlls how much fuel spark timming and how much rev due to trottle.
the vacuum pipe is connected from the caburetter to the distributer body, this pipe is the smallest pipe and normally BLACK in colour it has rubber connections push / pull, go's into a centred dished disk and the pipe is hard nylon type, and the other end connected to the carburetter body (need to take the air filter off to see where this. the distributer for timming and spark to engine, it normally has two spring clips on the side or two / three bolts this unit has 5 rubbery cables if it is a four cylider engine going into the top of it, the distributer may need to be changed or the points may need to be set (feeler gage) normally 12 / 15 thounthans of an inch. i will send you my email address. whitegerald1212@yahoo, bye

Why is there an engine light showing in the dash

If your engine light is on, your vehicle is telling you that:
a) It needs servicing (like an oil change)
b) Something is mechanically wrong

Don't drive the vehicle until you've checked all of your fluids (oil, coolant, etc.) and then only drive it far enough to get to the nearest autoparts store or friendly mechanic. They'll have a special machine that will hook up to your car and read the "error code" to see what your car is trying to tell you. Don't keep driving it, if it's something serious and you don't address it soon enough, it could damage your vehicle and make a small cheap problem very big and expensive.

I cannot find the ecm / ecu on my 2002 toyota corolla. where is it?

You can do more damage trying to fix it youself if you don't know what is really wrong. I suggest you bring it to a mechanic to check out the damage. It also could be a simple thing like replacing the fuseble Links.
First check that the battery is connected properly - to body ground and + to engine. Make sure battery is fully charged before installing. Good luck

How do I remove an aftermarket Engine Immobiliser that looks like a stereo plug that i've almost lost twice and my brother thinks it's hooked up to the fuel system I don't want the stress of almost lo

Most immobilisers on the year car 1993 and some newwer one are connected to starter wiring under the dash, and what it does is it cuts the power wire from the ignition switch in half and sends it through the module and to relay, you will need to follow the wires and you will see the wires coming down from the ignition switch, one will be cut in two and go into immobil wiring you will dissconnect them and reconnect them back together, the wire is color coded so theres no mixing wires and then the rest of the wiring will be to power and ground and so on, all these other wires can be removed or left there. once you connect the main stating wire thats the main wire, a quick thing to see if this is the way it works is to try and start the car without the chip and see if when you turn the key the engine should not try to start, it should do nothing just dash lights light up but no engine spin, if this is what happens then this is the way to dissable it. good day.

Check engine light is on. my temperture gadge goes a little past half ways but never all the way to hot. could it be the gasket, thermastate or fans? not sure cant trust any michanics because i am a women...

If you can not trust a professional mechanic,
why would you trust someone on the internet
to guess without the vehicle to test?

You surely have had your share of Check Lights on
the dash of may vehicles,so you know what to do

Check for codes
Diagnose the System with the problem

Bad luck can be fixed by educating your self
and finding a quality shop & staying with them &
building a relationship

That said you have to know how to deal with them

No road test, they have no interest,so leave
Ask friends where they go
You do the driving on the road test & the mechanic
rides along. How else would they know why your there?

You don't go to a different Doctor every time you need
one,so why don't you have the repair shop thing solved.

The service engine soon light came on. I went to auto zone and they found trouble code P1456. How do I fix this?

hi, dear friend, this is an obd2 trouble code table. it can help you understand the meaning of code.
The best way to fix a P1456 error (small evap. leak) on your Nissan is to have a "smoke machine" test done on it. This machine is hooked up to your car and pushes smoke throught the evap. system. The smoke will shoot out of the leak and indicate its precise location. You can also try getting a new gas cap and make sure that it clicks 3 times when you close it after filling your tank. Also, NEVER leave your car running when your fueling up as this can cause your "service engine soon" light to come on. The best choice however is doing the smoke test as this will elimiate any guess as to the location of the leak. Nissan dealers can perform this smoke machine test for you for about $90.00 and can save you alot of money by pin-pointing the leak so you don't keep buying parts you don't need.

Check engine light is on don't know why

The check engine light comes on when a part of the cars emission system has a problem it could be a loose gas cap to needing a tune up to catalytic converters going bad. If you take the car to a local Auto Zone or Advace they can hook it to a scan tool and help give you a general idea to what is going on.

Check engine light

My check engine light came on. i took my car to autozone and they will hook it up to a diagnostic machine to let you know the code that the engine computer is sending. In my case the thermostat had went out, so it needed to be replaced. just an idea.
