Hello. Remove your car's air filter by 'releasing 2 metal clasps on the air filter box and remove air filter. 3-4 bolts are under the air filter. Disconnect/release clamps and lift out air filter box. Good luck and keep me informed; if you want to.
Hi Lawrence:
Air has to get into the air filter box so that it can go through the filter and provide air to the engine. There is usually a duct or pipe of some kind to get this air. The only other hole that may be present in an air box would be to accept the PCV tube.
Can you describe the hole that you repaired?
You talking engine air filter or cabin filter? Engine air filter is located in air box in engine compartment.. unclamp , open box , remove old filter, wipe out box, replace new filter , reclamp box.
Cabin filter located under cowl just below windshield. remove cowl bolts / plastic rivets. pull off cowl .. filter is in center and slides out like a drawer.. slide in new filter and replace cowl.
The filter is located down low under the air box which connects to the throttle body. You'll need to remove the fresh air inlet line from the throttle body (loosen hose clamp) there are two (2) large phillips head screws which hold the air box in place , remove these there may too be a clamp which connects the air bos to the filter box, if there loosen and slide away the air box. On the filter box there are two (2) clamps that hold the filter in, snap back these claps to access the filter and replace. To install reverse the above.
1. Loosen the four screws that hold down the top of the air filter box. 2. Loosen the clamp that attaches the air filter box to the intake hose. 3. Disconnect the air sensor connector from the top of the air filter box. Note: Secure the connector wire, it tends to drop down and more than once I have had to remove the air filter box to retrieve it. 4. Remove the top part of the air filter box. You may need to twist it to get it to release from the rubber air inlet Hose. 5. Remove the two bolts holding the bottom of the air filter box. 6. Remove the bottom part of the air filter box. 7. Disconnect the negative then the positive battery cables. 8. Remove the three bolts that hold the brace that goes over the Windshield washer tank. 9. Remove the brace. 10. Remove the Battery hold down clamp at the base of the battery. 11. Remove the two nuts that hold the fuse box to the fender well. 12. Remove the two fasteners from the front of the widshield washer tank. 13. Rotate the windshield washer tank away from the battery. You may need to move the tank and lift the fuse box to get the tank clear of the battery. 14 Remove the battery. To Install reverse the steps. Time: 5 to 10 Minutes
Hello,
What you do is, find your air filter box, open it up and take the old nasty dirty one out. In doing do, its very good to take and clean out the air box as well as you can before putting the new one back in, you dont want dirt to get into your new filter that fast. The box can be found by tracing the long black tube from the intake to the box. The box should be rather accessible. Make sure you have the correct air filter otherwise you may not have the correct air flow, or it just simply will not fit. Place the new one in the air box, close it all up and there you go, you just changed your air filter. Hope this helps!

The cabin air filter is located behind the glove box, you will have to remove the glove box, behind the glove box is a cover about 1" high and 7" long, remove that cover and you will see a tray that holds the cabin air filter, remove the tray and you can replace the paper cabin air filter, I recomend using a Toyota cabin air filter, the Toyota cabin air filter is a HEPA air filter and is available at any Toyota dealer for about $ 30
Its located on the drivers side just behind the battery and in front of the strut tower, a black square box with a black round plastic tube going to it, remove the top cover and you will see the square air filter inside.
The engine air filter is located in the box behind the battery. This box should have 4 metal clips that pop off and you and pick up the top of the box and underneath is the filter.
4. The filter
box is help in place by two ball and socket type retainers located
on the back corners. Grasp the box and lift up firmly to lift it
free,
5. Turn the assembly upside down. There are seven torx
screws securing the cover of the filter. Remove them and replace the
filter.
6. Reverse the process to re-install the filter box.
