SOURCE: hard down shift

I've read article after article on Chrysler forums where anything other than Autopar ATF in their transmissions cause problems, erratic shifting, etc, including what your experiencing. The techs that deal with it daily through Chrysler/Dodge shops, say there is some properties or chemicals in Autopar fluid, that others just don't have, no matter what they say, and they have proven it, time after time, with symptoms that disappear, just by changing fluids to Autopar. My wife's relatives own one of the more respected & trusted repair shops in our area, and they swear by that rule too, because they've also experienced it in the past. I'm naturally assuming you know that your experienced enough to know how to install filter properly & what to watch for, so with that said, I hate to say it, but Mopar ATF4 is the one & only fluid for best results. P.S. I recently had my transmission with 260,000km. replaced at Ontario Reman, whom back when I was with Chrysler, was the sole supplier of rebuilt engines & transmissions for Chrysler. When I questioned them on the fluid in my new/rebuild they responded with same answer, Mopar ATF and nothing else. If you do some googling on it, you'll find many that went to quick lube or similar for same service only to experience shifting problems etc after. Switched back to autopar as advised & problems went away. Can't say 100% that's your problem, but if it were me, I'd change it.

SOURCE: Car shifts hard (up & down), especially shifting to reverse.

that delayed reaction may be the transmission slipping. with those many miles it could be the transmission going bad

I have 2010 town county won't shift trans just rises when on freeway installed another trans does the same thing what is it

Hi Rafi, Im AL the owner of Big As Auto Repair.

Rafi, your explanation sound like you may have a restricted transmission cooler. If the cooler is restricted then trans-pressures or affected and could cause the issue your taking about. If you have access to shop-air you could blow through the cooler and see if that changes the way it shifts. If it does then go to AutoZone and get a trans-cleaner and fill the cooler and let set a few hours and then blow the cleaner out with shop-air. Hope this helps and please visit my auto-repair-website here: http://www.bigasautorepair.com/

Is there any thing othert than chainging tranmission fluid reguarly to help transmission life on 1997 chysler concorde

if you never changed the trans fluid yet, don't
the shavings that are worn mixed with the trans fluid must be retained in your trans to keep the trans shifting smoothly
I have seen plenty of people changing there trans fluid for the first time with 50,000 miles then the trans will slip

2002 Chysler Town and Country sat in the driveway for two weeks while on vacation. Came back to it not wanting to start. Won't even attempt to turn over. Replaced battery in it 2 months prior.

After you charge up the battery, check everything. You may have a map light on. With small children they often play with the map lights for rear passengers. Also It is hard to check, but the light may be on inside the glove box.

If none of these are the problem you have to have what is called a parasitic drain test done to determine what is not shutting off and draining the battery. These are always the tough ones.

Hope This Helps

If it is always shifting firm, I would suspect it is in the control. Perhaps the computer needs to be flashed at the dealer. A line pressure reading should be done to verify the pressures are correct.

Transmission down shifts hard

Check the trans fluid for quantity and color. If it is not a good red color, try having it changed and get the filter cleaned. If that looks okay, you may have a bad shift solenoid. Look for leaks around the trans case. Leaks on top around the solenoid are a sign that it is going bad.
