Question about 1999 Honda Accord

1 Answer

I have a 99 Honda Accord. The lights and horns sometimes automatically activate and will continue until the battery is drained. This can occur at anytime during the day or night. Thinking that my remote control panic was the problem, I took out the remote control battery and only use a key now. The problem still occurred. Every time I took the car to the Honda service department, they car behaved and they couldn't find the problem. Now whenever I am not driving, I manually disconnect the car battery and when I need to use the car, I have to pop the trunk and reconnect the battery. When I am driving, the problem would automatically occur. Then, when I turn on the lights, the problem would stop. Nowdays, I drive with the relay to the horn disconnected. Please help me since no one seems to be able to figure out the problem and I can't afford to buy a new car.

Try reseting the alarm/immobiliser with the remote(new batteries) and then see sometimes goes out of sync for no reason.

How can you reset the factory remotes if that is even possible? I need to do something, we are going on vacation and want to be able to lock up the car, but don't need the alarm having a mind of it's own and going off constantly.

I have one Honda Accord 1999. One time, when I was driving, brake and steering wheel locked; oil light, battery light and brake light were on. What's happened to my car?

I have '99 accord LX 4cyl sedan and the ignition switch is a problem for these cars. I replaced my ignition 2 or 3 years ago because it would randomly shut off and sometimes not start back up right away. It only got worse until I fixed it, it would die on the highway or freeway sometimes. Haven't had that problem since. i think it cost like $240 or so. Also if you have an automatic, be careful, they are notoriously bad for going out after 100k miles. mine did and its an expensive fix. good luck.

198 honda accord ex if horns sounds, shorts out cruise control and brake lights. This happens when I manually sound the horn or the alarm does. Any ideas?

This is a tough one, if a horn itself was shorted, it wouldn't sound.Try unhooking both horns, and try to activate it from the steering wheel. If the brake light´s fuse still burns, at least you know that there is a short in the cabling leading to the horns. If the fuse doesn't trip, then one of the horns should be the culprit.

HORN ON 1987 HONDA ACCORD NOT WORKING. FUSES LOOK GOOD. WHAT ELSE COULD IT BE?

I'd start by hooking 12 volts with a battery charger directly to the horn to see if it blows. then check if you have power to the positive connector when activating the horn button. Then if you dont, see if you have power to the horn relay, located in or near the fuse box

you probably have short in the wiring, could happen if it got wiggled loose or got wet. it sounds like a wiring issue to me.

My 01 honda accord had the "drive" light blinking simultaneous with the check engine, tcs, and sluggish driving. when i then put the car in park the "drive" light continued to blink. none of these...

First thing is to make sure you have a fully charged or good battery. If Ok
Use scanner and read codes.
Depending on what codes tell you do the testing and repair required .
Right now your TCS is not operable and the transmission is only operating in third gear.
Get back to me with the codes and we will take it from there. This could be anything from wheel sensors to shift solenoids,

99 honda accord - horn not working

It could be a fuse, bad wire, bad ground, or a bad horn. First check the fuses, if the fuses are all good take a wire run it from your battery to the horn touch it to the posts, if the horn dosen't work you know the horn is the problem, if it does it is a bad wire or ground.

Change Automatic Transmission oil

Honda's are drain and refill only. The filter is internal inside the transmission and can only be accessed during an overhaul. On the bottom of the transmission case is a drain plug that is gold in color. It is removed using a 3/8" ratchet,or extension with a ratchet atached. There is also an aluminum washer that must be kept track of and reinstalled with the drain plug or a leak will occur. After draining the trans, and reinstalling the drain plug,Honda genuine automatic transmission fluid,or an equivalent with a highly fricition modified additive must be used,or harsh shifting can occur.I would install about 3 quarts after draining, and start checking the level at this point. The fluid level is checked with the engine OFF,on level ground.
