Question about 1999 Chrysler 300M

1 Answer

There is an Oil pressure sending unit on the left front side of the engine. This is connected to a special fitting that has the tubing that goes to the oil cooler. This is leaking. Where can I get one of these and what is it called? It looks like the power steering pump and the Oli filter has to be removed. Is this correct?

I usually go to the airport where there is always a company that makes hydraulic lines cheaply. Cost less than trying to order the new part, because they reuse the old end fitting. They just replace the rubber part and the crimped parts.

Check gauge light is on and oil pressure gauge at zero. Oil at full on stick?

Sounds like you have a bad oil pressure sending unit, the oil pressure sending unit controls your oil pressure gauge, what I would do is remove the oil pressure sender and hook a manual oil pressure gauge up to your engine and verify you have sufficient oil pressure, if you have good oil pressure on your gauge then replace the sending unit, if you have a low reading on the gauge stop your engine immediatly and start looking at a potenial problem with your oil pump or lubricating system within the engine....

its close to the oil filter, you will see the electrical plug going into it, and it will look like it needs a special tool to remove it by the shape of the head, but i always just used channel locks.

per the Haynes manual for the 95-05 Dodge Stratus on the 2.0L & 2.4L DOHC 4 cyl engines, the oil pressure sending unit is located at the left end of the rear side of the block. On 2.4L SOHC 4 cyl engines, the sending unit is located at the left end of the rear side of the block. On 2.5L & 3.0L V6 engines, the sending unit is located on the oil filter housing, on the front side of the block. 5.3 L Yukon XL oil pressure problems

Well first the GM oil pressure sending units are notorious for false readings, so what you must do is remove the oil pressure sending unit and plug in a test mechanical gage to verify the engine has acceptable oil pressure, after you are certain the pressure is ok replace the sending unit, it requires a special socket to remove it, the socket is about $5.00 USD. There is a deep socket and a shallow, so check the sending unit for the correct socket fit.
