I have a 1995 ford f-150 4x4 with auto locking hubs my 4x4 lights up but the hubs are not locking

This is actually a fairly common and annoying problem with the auto hubs. The usual problem is the slip ring in the hub is dirty or not making contact. The fix is simply to take the hubs apart and clean the rings. This is something you can do at home in an long afternoon with tools. You need to remove the wheel, then the rotor then the wheel bearings and then the hub itself. Cleaning the rings is simple I've used steel wool to get rig of corrosion etc. This obviously isn't a step by step fix. I would suggest if you want to do this yourself then get a service manual or look for a online video. Then you will have an idea of just what it takes. The alternatives are convert to manual hubs (I did and gained 5mpg) or take it to a mechanic. This isn't a big thing but because it is buried it can cost a bit in paid labor or your time. It definitly isn;t a sell the truck kind of thing.

Explain how to remove front brake rotors on a four wheel drive 1983 f150 staight six with manual locking hubs

once you remove brake and hub assembly place on clean workbench with the lug bolts up, then with a center punch and hammer place punch on center of lug and knock it out would reccomend putting the lug nuts on lugstuds till they are flush in order to prevent damage to threads of studs.this will allow you to seperate rotor from hub.

You will need a manual hub kit and a 'conversion kit', both available at your local auto parts store.

Removing a 2000 Excursion hub to convert from auto ( vacuum) hub to manual locking hubs. There's supposed to be a lock ring holding on the cap/ cover that's remaovable with snap ring pliers, but don't see...

its not a snap ring in the sence that there are no holes for the pliers.use a small screw driver and something to hook it with. it sits inside the of where the hub slides in. after removing the hub might not easily come out. WD-40 and a large pair of channel locks may be required. by the way the hub itself is not vacuum operated. its engaged by a sprag unit that works when power is supplied by the axles rotating.

1997 isuzu rodeo 4x4 problem

Only the "S" model has the manual locking hubs.
Auto locking hubs look like normal center on a whel; only bigger. Manual locking hubs woul have and indent in the middle of hub and a raised ridge to grab with your finger to rotate the hub into the locked position. There should be some writting on the hub edge telling you which way to turn to lock and unlock.

Ford auto locking hubs

you can convert auto to manual hubs warn hubs or milemarker makes good hubs. As far as lift a suspension lift is better. This really depends on what you want to do with truck. I had a 97 f250 diesel 4x4 and put front leving springs on it and new poly spring bushings and was able to clear 35" tires on factory wheels. The best exhaust upgrade is going to be a new down pipe from turbo to exhaust as far as straight pipe or muffler it depends on personal preference
