The Equinox made a popping noise this morning when it turned on. Turned it off and immediately looked underneath. There were no fluids and nothing that I could see. Started the vehicle and went about 2 miles and it started overheating. The battery light came on. I pulled over and turned off the car. Once it was cooled off I double checked the anti-freeze resevoir and it had plenty of fluid. I couldn't see any leaks under the car and the oil level is fine. I turned it around and babied it back home. I don't know what it could has regue. It has regular maintenance. Please let me know what comes to mind.

I have a 2006 chevy equinox and when i started it it had a quiet tick which was a completely new development. As I drove it became very loud so we pulled over turned it off...started it again after a coupld minutes it started but noise was still there, checked the oil it read low so we added two quarts then it wouldn't start meanwhile no smoke showed no burning smell didn't overheat and now lights came on.
Check the fuse box located underneath the drivers side steering wheel. Flip the fuse box cover lid cover and there will be a diagram. Locate the "Wiper" fuse on the diagram and replace it with the same number fuse. Look underneath your vehicle for any evidence of broken plastic or possibly your CV axle has broken. Check your oil and transmission fluid and make sure they are topped off. Look for any liquid leaking at the bottom of your car.
if air stops blowing out period it maybe the blower motor resistor. go to your local repair shop. will be cheaper in the long run. at least you can call around now with some idea what to ask. how much to change a blower motor resistor.

I had the same whining noise, but after a minute or two it would go away. It turned out to be my water pump. It wouldnt turn first thing in the morning and the belt was just running through the pulley, (causing the whining noise). This may not be your problem, but it is easy to check. Just pop your hood and see if the fan is turning.
If there is no leak underneath the car it means that probably your power steering fluid reservoir is empty. The best way to locate the leak is to pour in a little bit of p/steering fluid, start the engine, turn the steering wheel and then have a look underneath the car. It is probaly a flexible hose which has burst.
Cheers.
it is located underneath the altinator ... if you look at the alt on the passenger side look between the alt and the fire-wall,look stait down and you will see a cap marked power steering fluid...
