Timing specs - 1998 Ford Mustang

The timing chain cover torque specs for a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am with the 3400 engine are 11 Nm (8 lb ft) for the M8 bolts and 25 Nm (18 lb ft) for the M10 bolts.

5.8L (non lightning): Lift: .278" Intake; .283" exhaust.
5.8L Lightning: Lift .260" intake, .278" exhaust.

Base timing: 10* BTDC (Before Top Dead Center)

Well I can't really help with the timing specs but the points gap should be .019 (in.), but I always learned to use a match box to gap them  and that works great too. Hope this helps.

THE TIMING SHOULD BE 15 DEGREES BTDC +OR- 8 DEGREES.U CAN NOT ADJUST THE TIMING IF IT OUT OF SPEC. THEN U HAVE A TIMING BELT ISSUE OR A PROBLEM W/ THE IGNITION CONTROL SYSTEM.THE VEHICLE COMPUTER CONTROLS TIMING

I googled the specs and i found mine it will give numbers and pictures. Sorry i couldn't actuall y give u the answer.

You have to remove the timing belt cover and slip off the old belt...The timing spec adjustment is: 10-15 degrees BTDC
