The wires are numbered ,and the longest one is for cylinder number 1.far left, faceing the front of engine, the others are numbered and if you put them on the plugs you should be able to figure out what terminals to place them on the coil assy just by the length of what reaches the coil towers in the best length pattern! The plug wire from the # 4 cylinder will be the shortest!

my guess
oil changer
spilt the oil filling the motor up and it ran on to the exhaust
if rocker cover gasket isnt leaking
oil smell will go away after engine gets up to temp

degreased the engine bay with something cheap
then hosed it down with a hose and water went everywhere

firing order for 4 cyl typical is 1342
the leads will be to length from dissy so its hard to mess up

water may have condensed under the dissy cap or coil plug wires arcing in the spark plug tubes

all needs to be dried out

a dry rag or metho not wd 40

car should run ok after the engine bay is dry

Spark Plug Wires -- 2000 Ford Focus ZX3?

two options just pull them straight up or they make a special tool that you can buy to do this. if you are going to replace plugs you should go ahead and do the wires at the same time.

What Bosch super 4 spark plug fits a Ford Focus 1.6 zetec.

my advise don't get those, they don't work as well as you think they do.
if you think about it if they are so much better why don't drag racers use them?
because they actually block the ignition point.

just get the factory style plugs and you will be better off.

You may have water in the spark plug hole, or a shorted plug wire, pull #4 wire and look for water residue and a possible burn mark on the plug wire were it goes over the plug.
