Whistling when accelerating outlander turbo diesel

turbo whistle is common as it comes from the tips of the compressor wheel passing through the sound barrier and the turbulence occurs. IN the older trucks you would the turbo whistle as the engine reached full RPM just before a gear change. In smaller engine it is not do noticeable as there is an excess of air pressure that keeps the compressor wheel at a lower rpm and the pressure is dumped out. Turbo compressors reach revolutions in excess of 120.000 rpm under full load If it has just started to make the noise then check the intercooler system for leaks--loose clamps--- splits - Have the turbo compressor checked for damaged fins from the ingress of fine dirt from a bad air filter---check the air filter is not blocked as the turbo speed may result from running in a partial vacuum ( no load on the compressor wheel)

My rear end suppension which levels per weight disrubution is not staying up. Have to have envoy running for awhile before it kicks in. What needs to be replaced or how can I fix it. Is it a costly fix as...

Sounds like it might be a slow leak in the hoses or airbag in the system, it takes a while before the compressor can recover from a leakdown. The cost depends on what is actually wrong.

Back end of my 2001 Ford Expedition FWD, Eddie Bauer, was dragging. Had diagnostic test run and found out it needed a new air ride compressor. Had compressor installed, but compressor continues to run...

The compressor should only run until the rear suspension reaches the desired height. If it continues to run after the suspension has raised to ride height then you may have a leaking air bag/solenoid or line. If you dont have any leaks it is possible the EVO(air suspension module} or relay is at fault.

Service ride control on it sounds like air is leaking out of the rear shocks

If it sounds like the air is leaking out of both rear shocks it is probably time for a new set of shocks. If yours are original from factory. They are most likely dry rotted and full of holes. If you continue to drive the car in this condition you can plan on replacing the air compressor too. The compressor isn't meant to run continuously and it will burn up while trying to keep up.

Yesterday warning panel on dash stated check air ride suspension. This am the back end is very low to the ground. I did hear a rattleing noise yesterday under the hood on the front right side like a marble...

If the air bags leak, then the compressor runs all the time trying to keep them full of air, then the compressor overheats and burns up or blows the fuse. There are companies that sell kits to replace the bags with springs and thats the cheapest way to fix it. If cost is no object then you will need a compressor and the bags (if thats where the leak is) Call ARNOTT and check with them.

Air compressor will not run. motor will try to start but trips

I think you need a new motor run capacitor. This is fitted under the cover where the cable runs into the motor. Stephen.
