SOURCE: 2000 grand cherokee overheating heater blowing out cold air

Generally this condition is the result of coolant loss, or failed thermostat. If coolant goes below cylinder head level, or thermostat remains closed, heat will stop working. Do not drive with this condition as excessive heat buildup in cylinder head can and will do serious damage to heads and or head gasket.
Find out where leak is and correct it. Change thermostat as it may also be damaged. Check for excessive steam from tailpipe or miss in engine, as these symptoms indicate a cylinder head problem.

SOURCE: Heater blows cold air when idle

Sounds like you may have a partially plugged heater core. You could flush this out separately, from flushing radiator & engine block. Diconnect heater hoses going to your heater core and clamp off, so not to loose coolant from engine. Now hook up separate hose to one side of heater core pipe and flush out with typical garden hose. Repeat procedure on both heater core inlets. Reconnect original heater hoses and test difference. You may have to add an additional litre of antifreeze. If this don't work i suggest changing heater core. Good luck.........Ron.

SOURCE: Heater blows cold air

If the "Heater In Hose" gets hot, and the "Heater Out Hose" does not get hot, than either the Control Valve is sticking closed, or your heater core is plugged up with ****!

Have you used "Barrs Leak" or a simular product for a radiator leak? That will sometimes clog the heater core.

I have a 1993 Grand Cherokee, which "Normally" throws very hot air out of the heater, but lately sometimes it only throws warm air, till I make my first stop, than it gets hot.....all because the heat control valve is hanging up.

Low water in the radiator will also cause a heater to not work.....if the water level is too low to circulate to the heater.

blend door actuators. If you have the AZC system (automatic zone control) used in the limited (the one with dual digital readouts) you can use the on board diagnostic to read the code. while running, press the a/c and recirc buttons at same time then turn drivers temp control one click clockwise. release a/c and recirc buttons. If you have codes that show up, write them down and google search for these codes. It will tell you exactly what is wrong.

1993 jeep grand cherokee...no heat

there is three things that could be going on here, first the controls could be bad, secound it could be heater blend door acturator, and third it could be heater resister. i am thinking its the controls because you say it displays ER. on air controls witch i'am sure means error, if thats the case its not sending a signal to acturator to move the doors in the heater box, witch in turn will not let heat flow out into car. now i don't think its resister, witch only controls speeds of fan, sense you did not mention that in your question. it could be the acturator its a little electric motor on heater box that moves the doors in heater box, but it gets its signal from the controls on the dash. MONEY, acturator around $45.00, heater controls 150.00 to 200.00 resister around 20.00, and thats just parts this is just a guesstament just giving you an idea of the cost, thats if all three are bad witch i dought they are.
