I cant get the rear rotors to come off my 2000 lincoln ls

Only rust holding the rotors on-- from neglect

You have to remove the rotors once a year &
remove ALL rust from the wheel hub face, both sides
of the rotor hat & use anti-seize on those surfaces

Brand new vehicles come off the assy line bone dry &
rust on while on the rail cars or car carriers & have to come
apart as well

Dealers do nothing at all, as far a delivery prep
You get the new vehicle as it came off the car carrier

Hit the rotor with a 2x4,4x4 etc (wood)

If your throwing away the rear rotors & they rust so bad on
an L/S, you may as well, verse turning them, then use a dead
blow hammer or a steel mallet on the rotor face

Rear rotor will not come off kia sorento 07

You only have two possiblities

The lip on both sides of the rotor that
the pads are hung on & rust from never
removing all rust from hub & using anti-seize

You have to take apart brakes once a year to
get rid of rust, even if no other attention is needed

If the pads are out-- hit the rotor with 2x4 to break the rust

My brakes sound like they are grinding

check rear rotors and front rotors for rust buildup (flahlight helps). does the vehicle shake when you come to a hard stop? You will either need to have a front or rear or both brake job (rotors cut or replaced and new brake pads) If the vehicle is shaking when coming to a stop, its probably your front pads. If your hearing the noise from the rear its the rear pads or it you hear it from the front its the front pads. If there significant rust build up or your pads are low a brake job is recommended.

Cant get the front rotors off my 03 mitibushi

check for 1 or 2 cross head screws,(maybe covered in rust.)in between the bolts, then if you have the calipers off hit the rotor with a mallet(or a hammer with a towel on it)to knock it off the hub.(its rusted to the hub, thats all)..

1999 expedition cant free ft wheel disc from hud

Your going to have to use a 5 pound hammer and ear plugs. The rust on the back side of the rotor is seized on the hub. I good hard hit will free it and will just come free. Good luck and hope this helps, don't forget to use brake cleaner on the ABS speed sensor on the back side of the hub since you have everything apart. Good luck,.Keep me posted be glad to help.

89 Jeep Comanche needs front wheel bearings. Removed wheel, caliper, but cant remove rotor. Am I missing something or is the rust still holding on? It looks like it has teeth around spindle. Do I need to...

4x4, correct? Put the nut back on the axle and run it flush with the end, then give it a smack with a hammer to get the axle splines free.
The rotor itself is separate from the hub ...spray with wd40 or other solvent and squirt some where the lugs come through . Put a 2x4 on it and give it a smack with the same hammer. If necessary, alternate at opposite sides. it should break free.

Without looking at it, you may have one or more of the following:

Rust on the inside edge of the rotor (most common)

Worn front brake pads

Front wheel bearing problem.

Backing plate (behind rotor) rubbing the rotor

These are the most common causes, you can see 1,2 & 4 with the wheel off.

Hope this helps.
