Question about 1996 Chevrolet Blazer

1 Answer

A new starter was installed in our '96 Chevy Blazer but there is no power going to the starter. I was told to look for an inline fuse for the solenoid/thermal wiring? The starter clicks and there is action in the relay. Any ideas? All the fuses in the fuse box are okay.

Hello ase tech here. so your starter clicks when you try to start the car correct. the first thing i would check would be the ground at the battery is it tight. next i would check to see if you can hand turn the motor over, by attacting a socket that fits the crank bolt and turn by hand if ok i would take the starter back where you bought it and request a new one.

Assuming you have everything reinstalled correctly and the fuel pump was your problem to start with, try disconnecting the battery for at least 15 minutes to reset the computer. This worked on my 1996 Blazer.

The blinkers on my 96 Chevy Blazer don't work and I checked where the manual told me to change the fuse but the fuse is perfect. Now what? Thank You

There is a blinker modulator/regulator relay that needs to be replaced. It is one of the larger metal blocks beside the fuses. Ask O'reilly's or your local dealership for the fuse box schematic to locate the blinker relay and switch them out. I would expect it to be around $20. I had this problem with my 96' and the relay was the cause.

1999 Chevy Blazer Engine will not crank over. All

try turning the key over to the start position. then take a long screwdriver and touch it across the terminals on the starter. this should start your vehicle. if the sarter doesnt turn when you do this, then you have the starter locked up,and yo will have to take it off and install some shims under the bolts.if the starter is trying to turn and the lywheel isnt urning...then you have a locked up engine.

96 chevy blazer just clicks and won't turn over.

Hi!
Check the main cable going from the battery to starter rellay.
This could be loose or there is corrosion on the connectors, clean this with a spray like WD40...
To find this cable start from the starter motor and work your way back to rellay and then to battery...
If not.
Check with multimeter if the rellay is fine.
else the starter motor is jammed... it will have to be opened and serviced..

Berry

Main fuse

I don't believe there is a main fuse.Chevy uses fuseable link wire that come off the starter. They are like fuses, but they are wires that are made to burn if overloaded.Pull lightly on the wires coming off the starter & see if one or more stretch. This indicates a burnt fuseable link. You can buy fuseable link wire at Auto Zone cheap.Good luck,

Check the fuse under the dash. Did you replace the inline fuel filter? If not, you could loosen the line going into the filter then turn the key to the on position. The pump should run for about 2 seconds then the relay should kick off. Turn off the key for approx. 5 seconds then cycle key back on and the pump should cycle again. If you get a 2 second burst of fuel each time then the pump is cycling. Install a new fuel filter and check the grounded wire by the tank. Hope this helps. :)
