Hi, the shift linkage attaches to the transmission with a single bolt and nut. Attach one wrench to the bolt's head and a second wrench to the nut, twist either the bolt or the nut in a counterclockwise direction until both can be removed, then pull the linkage away from the transmission.

Hope i solved your problem...

It is that Allen wrench on top of the tyranny that you need to unscrew to remove the shift linkage.
It's better you seek for an assistance if you can't do it yourself....

Best advice is to leave well alone you should never need to change auto gearbox oil ,but if you feel its for the best then buy one of these little pumps that **** the engine oil out of engines and uses it for your gearbox oil

HOW TO REMOVE OIL PAN

There are several steps to removing the oil pan, especially if your 1500 is a 4 wheel drive. It's a pretty involved procedure. You are way better off buying a repair manual, such as the Haynes manual for your vehicle.

What is the car part that is at the bottom of a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. Its at the bottom of the truck and right behind the front wheels. I thinking it might be the transmission but I am not sure....

sounds like the transmission pan or the engine sump pan, the pipes are oil cooler connections. If a bolt is missing it may leak, if the leak is red its trans fluid, brown or black its oil from the engine.

Looking for the Oil Plug (Draining) for a GMC 2001 1500 Silverado

the pan under the motor is the oil pan. you can see the oil filter to the left of it (driverside). The plug is in the rear of it facing the back of the truck. On my 6.0l V8 the exuast pipe is rite behind it so when you loosen it have the drip pan ready to catch the oil as it will stream out fast at a wierd angle due to its location. The pan behind it is for the transmission.
